Posted November 11, 201212 yr For me I would have to say Janet Jackson. For quite a long time she was one of the biggest stars in the world so it really surprises me she never managed that feat on British shores I would also add Avril Lavigne (Girlfriend), TLC (No Scrubs), Savage Garden (Truly, Madly, Deeply) , REM (Everybody Hurts) and Aerosmith (Don't Wanna Miss a Thing) as well as they all have had massive singles that I actually thought had got to number one but didn't.
November 11, 201212 yr Sash! :( 5 number 2 hits: Encore Une Fois, Ecuador, Stay, Mysterious Times, Adelante
November 11, 201212 yr The Saturdays, considering they were the biggest girl band when Girls Aloud were on hiatus and Sugababes were flopping. :P Tina Turner (as a soloist at least, not sure about her songs with Ike), because she's dubbed Queen of Rock n Roll after all!
November 11, 201212 yr Nicki Minaj -> she's massive right now so hopefully it won't be long until she gets featured on a #1 (if Starships couldn't make it then I don't think any of her solo singles will) Justin Bieber -> we've been talking about him non-stop since 2010 yet he's never had a #1 The Killers -> one of the biggest indie bands of the 00s, but whilst Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight and Orson were scoring #1s they weren't Some others; Alicia Keys Amy Winehouse Ed Sheeran
November 11, 201212 yr Author God, I forgot about Alicia Keys! Hopefully she'll get one with "Girl on Fire" which would also give Nicki a number one as well as it's great. I'm going to add Nickleback as well as they've had some big hits
November 11, 201212 yr The Killers, Anastacia, Dido (don't think Stan counts). Although that's really who I want to get no.1s. The list would probablky just be the Killers in terms of me not believing they haven't had a no.1.
November 11, 201212 yr Dannii Minogue - She is probably seen as a bit of a joke but she has had some fantastic pop/dance tracks and managed 8 Top 10 hits, I still love 'All I Wanna Do' and 'I Begin To Wonder'

November 11, 201212 yr Depeche Mode, of course! Such a long career with many top 10 hits but without a British No.1.
November 11, 201212 yr Alicia Keys. Especially because she's been releasing since 2001 and has had multiple top ten hits. The Saturdays. I think the fact they've had 11 top ten singles between #2 and #10 is hilariously sad, especially as Frankie and Rochelle have had five #2 hits (3 with S Club 8 and two with The Sats).
November 11, 201212 yr Author Also, Snow Patrol as many other bands like them have managed a #1 which Snow Patrol have never managed. I was shocked also when I found out Dolly Parton only has one top ten single to her name! Mary J Blige as well, the womans been around for 20 years and has been successful Edited November 11, 201212 yr by justinthomas92
November 11, 201212 yr Muse - their chart history in the singles chart at least seems ridiculously understated for how massive a band they are, only 4 top 10 hits and no top 3s. Their chance of ever getting a #1 now must be slim after the #22 and #25 peaks of the two singles from 'The 2nd Law' so far (but at least they can still easily get #1 albums I suppose). Emeli Sandé having no #1s as a lead artist is also a surprise given how much radio love her, but she has had 2 #1s as a prominent feature. And speaking of features, given the huge amount of high profile artists he's worked with it's surprising Lil Wayne is yet to have a #1. And on not so much a 'can't believe they never had a #1' as a 'disappointed they never had a #1' note, Pendulum - if only they didn't split up they surely could have done it with the right single to lead album 4. Fearing the same fate for Chase & Status although they KIND OF have a #1 as they produced Rita Ora's 'R.I.P.'. Plan B could count for this as well but he only ever really had a chance with 'She Said' and he seems to be moving away from his more commercial sound now.

The video for "Ill Manors" probably cost Plan B any shot of a #1 this era at least - it's such an addictive track yet TV wouldn't touch it so it dropped like a stone.
November 11, 201212 yr I'm not a huge fan but I believe The Red Hot Chili Peppers deserve one because of their longevity in the music industry. Muse and Keane as well! Those two bands have produced tonnes of great stuff that everyone snaps up in album form and the singles miss out unfortunately.

I'm going to add Nickleback as well as they've had some big hits An interesting fact. Alicia has had singles peak from 2-9. Only #1 and #10 to go before she has a single peak at every position in the top 10! Fingers crossed "Girl On Fire" can be her first #1!
November 11, 201212 yr Prince, Bruce (at least in the US, he doesnñt have a number 1), Tina turner...
November 11, 201212 yr The Killers, Anastacia, Dido (don't think Stan counts). Although that's really who I want to get no.1s. The list would probablky just be the Killers in terms of me not believing they haven't had a no.1. I didn´t know they haven´t had one yet!
November 11, 201212 yr Bon Jovi come to my mind. They have had 18 Top 10 Hits (20 if you include the 2 Jon had as a solo artist). Their peaks range from No.2 to No. 10 but no No.1 for them. Of course they always were strong album sellers (scoring 5 consecutive No. 1 albums) but especially in the Mid 90s their singles also did very well, so one would think there would have been a quiet week where they could have reached the top spot. "This ain't a love song" had a strong opening as it was No. 1 in the midweeks but dropped to No. 6 as the week went on - holding the infamous record for lowest peaking Midweek No. 1 <_< . And "Always" of course lost out to Whigfield back in 1994. Edited November 11, 201212 yr by steps
November 11, 201212 yr Prince, Bruce (at least in the US, he doesnñt have a number 1), Tina turner... Prince has one over here with "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" (which may have been credited as Symbol?) but the US have much better taste in him with "When Doves Cry" and "Let's Go Crazy" hitting #1. Springsteen is a big one, probably the US' most consistently strong rock act over the last 40 years but "Dancing In The Dark" only made #2 over there (one of seven top 10s off Born In The USA as well!) while "Streets of Philadelphia" just missed out over here.
