February 21, 201313 yr I agree that 'diamonds' is awful, one of rihanna's absolute worst. at first I just thought of it as 'is that it? really?' but now it really is unbearable. nearly as bad as 'talk that talk' which fortunately ended up being around the chart for about 2 weeks rather than 2 years. :puke:

February 21, 201313 yr I'm really not seeing how Diamonds elicits such strong hate reactions in people. Surely if any song of Rihanna's was going to do that it'd be Don't Stop The Music, S&M, Rude Boy or something uptempo with a huge repetitive hook, not a midtempo (and one that's well sung compared to her early days) with a slightly repetitive one. It's still one of my favourite songs by her, and I love nearly all of hers (as I'm sure I've said many a time).
February 21, 201313 yr As I said it's far from being a terrible song, it's just an uninteresting one blown out of all proportion because it's Rihanna so I develop a sort of irrational hatred of it simply because it's so average.
February 21, 201313 yr Nah - I'm quite objective about Rihanna. If it was Rita Ora, or Sia or someone else who sang Diamonds I'd still love it. Don't Stop the Music is a lovely Daft Punk -homage.
February 21, 201313 yr I'm not a big Rihanna fan but she has some tunes and 'Diamonds' is one of them. The one I really don't get the fuss about is 'What's My Name?'. Totally average tune with no hook at all. 'Man Down' shits on everything else she's ever done :wub:
