This year has sorta been the year of the underperformance.

You can say that about most years, particularly the last 5-6. Difference this year is that a lot of BJ's faves are underperforming.

To be fair, she wrote 'Catch My Breath' with her music director about her last 10 years in the industry, so it means a lot to her.

I guess it like 'signifies' what her time so far has meant to her. And it's a damn shame it's being snubbed because it's a fantastic song.

I guess that makes sense. But still, it's not like 'Catch My Breath' isn't a good song and doesn't deserve to be a hit in it's own right. Like you said, it's a brilliant song and I can only think they were trying to replicate the MKIA/S(WDKY) strategic release, because it worked so well for them last time. She needs to come over and promote, big time for this. It's her greatest hits! I can't, not see it underperform. It's heartbreaking just thinking about it
Ok maybe Kesha isn't going anywhere near number 1 after all but not even reached the top 10 either :o. Not that it bothers me as such...

This year has been particulary bad. Off the top of my head we've had 'Your Body' and 'Lotus' by Christina underperforming, 'Proud' and 'Hottest Girl In The World' by JLS, 'I Found You' by The Wanted, Alexandra's 'Let It Go' and 'Heartbreak On Hold', Example's last two singles, Cover Drive's singles and album, B.O.B's album and last two singles, Chris Brown's album and last single, Conor Maynard's album and 'Vegas Girl' single, the Girls Aloud comeback (so far), Labrinth's album (after so much promotion and singles), Misha B's two singles, Rita Ora's album, Leona's comeback, Cheryl's album, Neyo's album, Dappy's last two singles and album, Carly's album and latest single, Usher's latest album and single and we currently have Ke$ha struggling to go top 20 with a new single. And of course we had Madonna flopping earlier in the year with her album and single, plus Marina and the Diamonds, The Saturdays with their single, Tulisa's album will probably be a huge flop etc

It seems like unless you're Emeli Sande, Rihanna, Adele, David Guetta or Olly Murs then getting success in the UK is alot harder than it used to be.

I think you could make a list just as long as that for more or less any year, especially if you're going to be as harsh as some of those on that list ('Twilight' and 'ORA' have done fine).

I guess that makes sense. But still, it's not like 'Catch My Breath' isn't a good song and doesn't deserve to be a hit in it's own right. I know! I can't believe they've not lined up any promo for her over here..

It is sad because a Greatest Hits should be a celebration and it doesn't feel like it is.

She's had some amazing songs, they deserve to be acknowledged all together :(

Flo Rida, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry and Calvin Harris?

Not the biggest fan of Die Young, but still supporting her because of her amazing back catalogue of singles. It does pale in comparison to them though :(

Currently #18

Loving the Ke$ha adds every I go #GetThatPromoGirl

In seriousness this comeback is very weak compared to her previous singles. Take It Off will always remain my favourite.

But there's a difference between it "underperforming" and it going to underperform... (although with "no buzz", would suggest it would exceed expectations if it was to chart top 100). There is some buzz and it will go top 30 I reckon, which considering it's from her greatest hits, it should be doing so much better.

I don't get why radio (bar Capital - afaik) snubbed her for this song though. It's possibly her most radio friendly track and it's not like the 'Stronger' era was a disaster for them to not completely get back on board... it's strange. I do hope her GH album can be a surprise hit though, but I'm not expecting anything much for it anymore :( There has literally been no hype over here for her/it. GA are gonna get the highest GH release, Mcfly second with Il Divo's getting a bloody good chance of going top 10. She's gonna have to settle for top 20 at best for now. :drama:

Silly girl should have led with 'People Like Us' as the main single.

The "single" seems to have been cancelled - its only going to be available via cherrypicking from the album now

Hopefully a boost for Alistair Griffin's "Always, No 1" after being used in the final montage of the 2012 F1 season on BBC!
Truth is though you're only ever as good as your last single in pop. Music's going through a bit transitional time again as it did four years ago and I'm sure it'll change again in four years' time!
Flo Rida, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry and Calvin Harris?

To be fair Flo Rida's album flopped.

These big name artists flopping is quite strange

On one hand massive "00's acts" like Britney, Christina, Madonna, Avril, Nelly Furtardo, Mariah Carey and Girls Aloud haven't done too well in the 2010's, then on the other hand acts like Eminem, Pink, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson and Usher have had some of the biggest hits of their careers. Seems weird to me that half the acts who dominated the 00s have flopped whereas the other half have maintained success or become bigger than ever

Most of the artists that were popular when I was at senior school aren't as much anymore (and the ones that are are usually the Heart FM types like Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson). It's mainly the female pop stars tbh. The male pop stars have survived a lot better, but I think that's because they rely less on gimmicks to thrive.

Oh :( (Although I have an excuse now as to when it "flops" and only peaks at #29 or something with two weeks top 100 :kink:) Such a mess though. I presume that's probably, genuinely the reason why radio didn't support it as much as they did. It'd make sense.

It was actually a hit by Flo-Rida's standards. Flo definitely survives only on singles and no one ever seems interested in his albums. Wasn't this his first top 10 album?

Like Alicia Keys and Rihanna, they're success seems to have grown ten fold since the beggining of this decade. Before 2011, they were on their way out and only had one sucessfull albums and about three decently sucessfull singles (This Love, She Will Be Loved and Makes Me Wonder) that hadn't sold all too well as they were released in the dire music sales period of 2003-2007. Now look at them; a million selling single, two sucessfull follow ups, got their first number one single and they've released their second best selling album. I just don't get it

I think ROOTS reached number 5, and his first reached #29 or something! :P But yeah, for Flo Rida's standards, this album has done alright! :P It's made a return to the Top 100 a couple of times too.
