Alicia's second and third album peaked at #13 and #11 respectively, and they both sold really well so I wouldn't imagine this is a cause for concern.

Im happy with Olly;s sales and he will at the least sell 100,000 plus will sell consistantly well right through christmas. One Direction are also holding up extremely well with sales aswell, i hope Girls Aloud can stay top 5 and i do think they will manage 50,000 this week.

Good to see Kylie still in the top 40, hopefully she remains top 35 now or even better if she climbed.

Olly Murs' huge popularity somewhat escapes me.

Yes, he's made some decent enough records, but his fanbase seems totally out of propotion to me.

His albums are VERY good.

How is Olly's fanbase disproportionate? If anything it's in proportion. He is that rare beast of male solo artist who appeals to a wide range of demographics, he doesn't alienate himself to one audience or one style of music which you definitely hear if you listen to all his albums one after the other and hear the progression he's made in his sound over the last 3 years. His detractors write him off at every turn because of how he got into the industry and the fact he only started professionally singing and writing songs when he was 23. He just accepts what he is and works with what he's got and bloody hard with it too whilst pushing the boundaries of pop and I'm fiercely proud he's sustained through to a third album and I think there'll be many more like it to come. :)

I suppose. But I was expecting that some of the hype from her last era (her most successful) would help the album debut into the top 10 at least. I'm sure that her album will have longevity though.

Great guy. High profile. Radio friendly hit singles. Not rocket science really.

.... And fit!

I'm quietly waiting for Adele to sneak back into the top 40 come Sunday, can't see her spending very long outside with it being only weeks till Christmas.

Late comments on yesterday's update:

I really thought Alicia would be off to a better start with this album, 'The Element Of Freedom' was released off the back of a lesser hit single and at the time she wasn't really that big as an artist (until recently she'd only had a couple of top 10 hits and only one previous top 10 album) but now she really should be doing better than low top 20 debuts. Really hope she can manage to turn this era around again like she did with 'The Element Of Freedom' :(

Really glad to see Robbie climbing a place with his album though, the number of new releases is slowing down rapidly again so I think it could possibly stay top 10 for the rest of the year now despite falling to #10 by its third week.

I presume this millionth version of the Jeff Wayne album is going to be counted as a new entry rather than another re-entry since all the tracks are slightly different?

'Troublemaker' 9k ahead of Bruno and still ahead combined on iTunes (but probably soon to fall behind), it should still have a second week in the bag but it's starting to look like Bruno is gonna go 2-9-2-1! Finally getting #1 just as I'm starting to really like it if that is the case :P Good to see Rihanna back in the top 3 too but as the album version hasn't managed to climb ahead of Labrinth on iTunes and he has multiple versions she'll probably drop back to #4 by Sunday. And The Lumineers back in the top 10 :D Its days are really going to be numbered if radio don't pick up on it by the time the ads stop running though.

Imagine Dragons charting as I expected with the EP sales going to the track 'Hear Me' and 'Radioactive' charting separately then - I'm surprised 'Hear Me' is higher than 'Radioactive', expecting them to switch later in the week althouhg they could manage a career opening with two simultaneous top 40 hits (first time since Susan Boyle? :P) Fantastic to see Athlete as high as #26, really hope they can hold onto the top 40 (still top 40 on iTunes)

DJ Fresh to get a ninth week in the top 30 without going higher than #24! 'Dog Days Are Over' only had 7 weeks in the top 30 to compare.

And finally, The Pogues top 40 :cheer: I really hope they can get in this week without Mariah, they entered on the same week in '07, '09, '10 and '11 and Mariah entered a week earlier in '08 so it'd be the first time that's ever happened.

On the Lumineers i find it bizare no radio station has picked up on this songs - its done so well without their help its clear the public are enjoying it!!
So with Olly 9k ahead can we say he's gonna retain his spot at number 1 then? The album version is almost top 10 so Bruno still hasn't caught him yet. His number 1 album is not in doubt so it looks like a double.

I remember at the time she released her album, there was a hype about her featuring on Jay-Z 'Empire State of Mind' and that catapulted in people buying her album. Plus the fact that she did the broken down version of the song and in turn kept the album selling.

Without that type of exposure, she will go back to the way it was before. I was hoping 50 cent would release the song 'New Day' off his forthcoming album a couple of weeks ago so that people will find out she has own version on her album. They played it on choice fm months ago but she didn't release the album for people to cherry pick it. I hope next year will be better.

When people look back at Locked Out of Heaven's chart run, they'll probably be confused by its week at #9. :P

How many weeks did As Long As You Love Me spend Top 30?

That also had 7 and it peaked higher than both 'Dog Days Are Over' and 'Gold Dust'.

Alicia might very well hover around top 30 through December and sell 150k and then reach top 5/10 with awful sales in January. Would that make people happier? I suppose so..

Agree entirely. Never has the butter been spread so thinly across the toast. Not his fault though, can't blame him for taking the opportunity.
