I hope 'A Thousand Years' gets 59p'ed some time soon! I still feel like it hasn't quite fulfilled it's potential yet.

Again, being over dramatic. A few alternative songs charting doesn't mean the charts are undergoing a major change. The fastest selling song of the year is a generic dance song!

But Thrift Shop is the best seller so far

Get your facts right. Thrift Shop is not a generic dance song.

EDIT - Only just realised you said 'fastest' and not 'biggest'. But my point still stands, most of the years biggest sellers are not generic dance songs. We are seeing RnB, House and Alternative more now than we did 2 years ago.

Looks like Will's presence on The Voice UK is keeping this song high in the chart.

The charts are undergoing a major change, how can you not see that? House music is coming back, there's more alternative songs charting recently and pop/R&B artists who used to be known for just that - R&B - are going back to their "roots" after a few years doing Dance-Pop music.

It was on the one last Sunday night.

Can't think of any other reason?

It is strange though, but I guess it's down to the song still being in the charts which has made it seem like it's had a bigger impact than all the other songs from glee this season, so people opted to buy that instead. It's a shame Glee's stripped back version of 'Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)' hasn't charted in the top 40. It's beautiful.

Hope Chocolate is still top 20.
No it wasn't. It did badly in the Hot 100 and iTunes and was only played on urban and rhythmic radio. Not a hit. It actually did better on UK iTunes than US iTunes.

It was #3 on r&b airplay so it was an r&b hit.

R&b don't sell singles (Miguel's latest Do You hasn't even entered the Hot 100 but you can't say it's not a hit)

Sales are only one definition of a hit song. A song can be top ten on airplay but never sell enough to reach top 100. It doesn't mean people don't like it or know it. It might appeal to people who don't buy separate songs for example.

HAHA! I was literally thinking about this version as scrolled down to this post

He said "fastest selling" (not "biggest") so he means 'What About Us' :P (That could potentially change this week though, but I'm not so sure it will).

Dropping for the first time (apart from that 2nd week) :(

The 1975 missing out on the top 20 :( At least they peaked in the top 20. Would be funny if their next single peaked at #75, so their peaks would go 19-75.

EDIT - Jonjo, I realised that and edited my post.

*SHOAT dead at mention of Kiss The Rain*

:D

It was indeed the VERY FIRST thing my eyes were drawn to when I opened up the thread. That track remains the LIVING TITS. I would take it over every single song in the current chart without hesitation.

Album Discussion Here

This is the big US hit for the Dragons. Still climbing the chart as we speak

Great to see Avicii spending 8 weeks top 20, when after its 2nd week drop I thought it would only have 8 weeks top 40. Would like an official follow up sooner rather than later (I say official because we did get X You)
