September 1, 201312 yr Yay, Loving You fighting off the irrelevance to get a second week! This would have been a multi-week top ten 15 years ago, although I'm not sure that 15 year old Matt Cardle would have been duetting with Sporty back then.

The band consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals, lead/rhythm guitar), Jamie Cook (rhythm/lead guitar), Nick O'Malley (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Matt Helders (drums, backing vocals). Former member Andy Nicholson (bass guitar, backing vocals) left the band in 2006 shortly after their debut album was released. The band have released four studio albums: Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (2006), Favourite Worst Nightmare (2007), Humbug (2009) and Suck It and See (2011), as well as one live album At the Apollo (2008). Their fifth album AM is set to be released in September 2013, their singles "R U Mine?" , "Do I Wanna Know?" and "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" (released in February 2012, June 2013 and August 2013, respectively), will feature on the upcoming release. The band's debut album became the fastest-selling debut album in British music history, surpassing Elastica's self-titled album and remains the fastest-selling debut album by a group in the UK. The band have won five Brit Awards—winning Best British Group twice, and have twice been nominated for Grammy Awards. Arctic Monkeys were heralded as one of the first group of acts to come to the public attention via the Internet (fan-based sites rather than from the band), with commentators suggesting they represented the possibility of a change in the way in which new bands are promoted and marketed. The band are also regarded as one of the most prominent bands to be part of the post-punk revival in the UK, after achieving commercial success and spawning two number one singles with their debut album. - Wikipedia Chart history (Year peak title): 2005 01 I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor -1- 2005 01 When The Sun Goes Down -2- 2006 04 Leave Before The Lights Come On -NAS- 2007 02 Brianstorm -1- 2007 74 505 -AT- 2007 05 Fluorescent Adolescent -2- 2007 20 Teddy Picker -3- 2009 12 Crying Lightning -1- 2011 28 Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair -1- 2012 23 R U Mine? -1- 2012 21 Come Together -OST- 2013 11 Do I Wanna Know?-2- 2013 08 Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High? -3- Discussion Thread Here
September 1, 201312 yr Oh and now the Arctics, I'm really enjoying the chart so far. Jason Derulo being the only track I'm not fussed on so far and even that's ALRIGHT.
September 1, 201312 yr 'Do I Wanna Know' is one of my songs of the year  so glad for its longevity, chart wise. I never thought I'd love it so much either, it's just so dark and moody. :D
September 1, 201312 yr Oh and now the Arctics, I'm really enjoying the chart so far. Jason Derulo being the only track I'm not fussed on so far and even that's ALRIGHT. ^ Completely agree with this. ^_^ Chart sounds really great so far and not stale in the slightest.
September 1, 201312 yr 35 (from 37) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Feat. Ray Dalton - Can't Hold Us [D] http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51haBA6CZpL._AA160_.jpg Chart Run: 53-46-38-33-12-5-3-5-4-4-7-9-11-14-17-22-25-27-24-27-34-37-37-35 [24 wks] Format: download only track Label: Macklemore Sales: 500k+ Video here: 2zNSgSzhBfM Biography A grassroots success, Seattle rapper Macklemore not only climbed to number two on the Billboard 200 album charts, but with little mainstream help, his 2012 sophomore release debuted with only Mumford & Sons in his way for the number one spot. Born Ben Haggerty and raised in Seattle, he debuted as Professor Macklemore in 2000 with the Open Your Eyes EP. Five years later his debut album, The Language of My World, earned him a local following, but it was his 2010 team-up with DJ/producer Ryan Lewis for the Vs. Redux EP that yielded the Red Hot Chili Peppers-sampling hit "Otherside." With Macklemore's wit meeting Lewis' inventive production, further hits like "My Oh My" and "Can't Hold Us" were spread throughout social media and video-sharing sites, setting the stage for a successful sophomore release. That came in 2012 when The Heist dropped as a Macklemore/Ryan Lewis release, debuting at the number two spot on the Billboard 200. A tour of North America followed. - iTunes Chart history (Year peak title): Macklemore & Ryan Lewis 2013 01 Thrift Shop (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Feat. September 1, 201312 yr Can't Hold Us still sounds really fresh but am so glad Same Love has finally taken off.
September 1, 201312 yr I didn't think 'Can't Hold Us' would hang around this long when it was first released. I still like it but was over it so long ago now though. I'm still not used to hearing the radio edit.
September 1, 201312 yr 6 songs in half an hour, leaving 24 to be played in 90 minutes. Hm. That's without talking more about this competition. :( All the songs will be edited & cut short!

The four-piece met at school in 2002, although lead singer and guitarist Matt Healy was born in London and drummer George Daniel was born across the North Sea in Brussels. The rest of the lineup was comprised of Adam Hann on guitar and bassist Ross MacDonald. The first incarnation of the band began by covering punk songs at gigs arranged for underage youths — which would quickly descend into chaos. Influenced by a range of styles, from Michael Jackson, Motown, and the Rolling Stones to the soundscapes of Brian Eno, Boards of Canada, and Sigur Rós, they soon began to apply their pop-influenced hooks and guitar melodies to the lush ambient backdrops they created. In 2012, they released their first EP, Facedown, on U.K. indie label Dirty Hit, and soon after supported Little Comets on their nationwide tour. The lead track from the debut EP, "The City," was played on Huw Stephens' BBC Radio 1 show, and the quartet's energetic live performances endeared them to crowds, while their music began to sweep across music blogs. Toward the end of 2012 they released a second EP entitled Sex, and the title track was played by influential BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe. The following year, a third EP appeared, titled Music for Cars, and spawned U.K. Top 20 single "Chocolate." Their popularity continued to rise and they went on to play shows across the U.K. and were also invited to play at industry showcase SXSW in conjunction with a U.S. tour. Their self-titled debut — recorded with producer Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Foals) — was slated for release in 2013. September 1, 201312 yr Oh 'Sex' didn't outpeak 'The City' in the end - nonetheless still a comfortable 3rd top 40 for them, so hooray!
September 1, 201312 yr Not my favorite track from the 1975, but good to see them get a third consecutive Top 40 hit. Hope the album does well on next weeks album chart show.
