Oh, Wings definitely has hints of Stop And Stare by OneRepublic, in the chorus

According to wikipedia, it was written by Birdy and Ryan Tedder. :P

HOORAY for 'The Wire'. This time a week and a day ago I'd never have thought this would be close to the top 20! Was the least instant of the 4 HAIM singles for me but has grown massively and it's now my 2nd fav of theirs after the flawless 'Falling'. (Falling >> The Wire > Forever >> Don't Save Me, though all 4 are very good).
"The coolest 3 sisters in rock."

The Corrs? The Beautiful Corrs?

The Corrs are rock? Soft rock, at a stretch...

YES! So glad HAIM are living up to some of their hype, they've been quite flawless this year and The Wire is almost as good as Falling. One of the best songs in the top 20.

...followed by the worst. :(

I really like what I've heard of Haim so far, probably the most success a Sound of.. winner has had in quite a while I'd imagine? I know 2012's winner vanished very quickly.

Biography

Miley Cyrus became an overnight sensation in 2006 as the star of Hannah Montana, a popular Disney Channel television series whose success allowed Cyrus to launch her own recording career several years later. Overnight popularity wasn't a new thing for the Cyrus family; Miley's father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, went from obscurity to stardom in a few short months in 1992, when "Achy Breaky Heart" became a crossover hit. The success of "Achy Breaky Heart" was hardly the only memorable event for Billy Ray that year, though, as he and his wife welcomed their daughter Destiny Hope Cyrus into the world on November 23, 1992. Destiny's cheerful disposition as a child earned her the nickname Smiley, which stuck when it was shortened to Miley.

Miley's career as a professional actress began in 2003, when she appeared alongside her father in an episode of the television series Doc. The same year, she landed a small role in the Tim Burton film Big Fish. The budding actress had also developed an interest in writing songs and learning how to sing, and in 2005, she landed a role that allowed her to put her skills in acting and music to work. Miley was cast in the title role of Hannah Montana, in which she played a teenage girl leading a double life: by day, she's Miley Stewart, an ordinary kid dealing with school, friends, siblings, and all the other foibles of life for a 14-year-old, while at night she dons a wig and becomes Hannah Montana, a multi-platinum pop star whose career is guided by her dad, songwriter Robby Stewart. Miley's friends don't know she's also Hannah, however, and keeping this a secret is no simple matter. After debuting in March 2006, Hannah Montana became an immediate success with young viewers and led to the release of a soundtrack CD in October, featuring Miley singing eight songs from the show along with five related tracks (including a duet with her father, Billy Ray, on "I Learned from You").

That fall, Miley hit the road as the opening act for another Disney-spawned pop act, the Cheetah Girls. A reissue of the Hannah Montana album followed in March 2007, not long after the show's theme song, "The Best of Both Worlds," was released as a single. A second Hannah Montana record, Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus, was released in summer 2007. That fall, Cyrus embarked on the Best of Both Worlds tour, which stretched into early 2008 and was edited into The Best of Both Worlds Concert film, which was released that spring. By then, Cyrus was busy recording Breakout, her first full-fledged album as herself, as well as shooting Hannah Montana: The Movie, which was slated for release the following year.

Breakout arrived in summer 2008. It topped the Billboard charts and quickly went platinum, paving the way for an even more successful year in 2009. Hannah Montana: The Movie was released that March and peaked at number one, while the soundtrack's lead single — a country-pop ballad called "The Climb" — became one of the year's most omnipresent songs, giving Miley her first multi-platinum hit. A short album, The Time of Our Lives, arrived several months later and yielded another hit with "Party in the U.S.A.," which charted inside the Billboard Top Ten for 16 weeks. Cyrus performed the song on the "Wonder World Tour," her first international tour, and also found time to film another movie, The Last Song, which hit theaters in 2010. With acting assuming such a large role in her life, Cyrus announced her decision to take a hiatus from music — but not before the release of her third album, Can't Be Tamed, which appeared that summer. ~ Mark Deming & Andrew Leahey, Rovi / iTunes

Puerile drivel of the lowest common denominator. :mansoncheer:
My cousin just said he hates Blurred Lines and asked why it's popular. I said the video, and he said he's never seen it!

Is that even possible?

Biography

Sub Focus is an alias of Nick Douwma, a fast-rising drum'n'bass producer/DJ affiliated with the Ram Records collective who became one of the style's leading practitioners within only two years of his recording debut. Originally from London, England, Douwma is a self-taught producer who began producing music on his PC at age 13 and attained his know-how from software manuals. One of his demos eventually made its way into the hands of Andy C., the co-founder of Ram Records, one of the U.K.'s premier drum'n'bass labels. Signed initially to the Ram Records offshoot label Frequency, Douwma made his recording debut as Sub Focus in 2003 with the 12" release Down the Drain/Hot Line. A couple more 12" releases on Frequency followed in 2004, along with one on J Majik's Infrared label. Douwma's breakout year came in 2005, however, when he made his Ram Records debut, releasing X-Ray/Scarecrow and, later in the year, Frozen Solid/Juno; these 12" releases were also compiled on the Frozen Solid/X-Ray maxi-single in response to their widespread demand, as "X-Ray" was awarded Single of the Week on tastemaker Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show. Also in 2005, Douwma was chosen to remix the Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up" in promotion of the group's 15-year anniversary collection, Their Law: The Singles 1990-2005.

In subsequent years, Douwma continued his affiliation with Ram Records, releasing a 12" more or less annually (i.e., Airplane/Flamenco, 2006; Special Place/Druggy, 2007; Time Warp/Join the Dots, 2008; et al.) and performing as an affiliate DJ at clubs such as Fabric and festivals such as Glastonbury. In 2009 Douwma issued his full-length debut, Sub Focus, which incorporated an eclectic fusion of futuristic house, dubstep, and electro-rock. The following year he produced the track "Kickstarts" for British singer/rapper Example, which peaked at number three on the U.K. singles chart, and in 2011 he inked a deal with Mercury, with plans to release his second album under the Sub Focus moniker in late 2012. The album sessions went on longer than expected and spawned five singles which gained Douwma increasing recognition and success with each release, culminating in the euphoric UK no. 10 hit "Endorphins" featuring vocalist Alex Clare. The success of the single was no doubt powered at least in part by its brilliant music video, which sees brutal riot police cracking down on dissidents in a dystopian future where music has been banned. A number of other high-profile vocalists, including Bloc Party's Kele Okereke, appeared on the eventual album, which was titled Torus and scheduled for release in September 2013. - iTunes

Yes Sub Focus! :cheer: #14 is not a bad debut, much better than I had expected so well done! Hopefully the album doesn't do too badly for itself.
According to wikipedia, it was written by Birdy and Ryan Tedder. :P
Oh right! I knew that but didn't make the connection, thanks for pointing it out

I really like what I've heard of Haim so far, probably the most success a Sound of.. winner has had in quite a while I'd imagine? I know 2012's winner vanished very quickly.
Well 2011 was Jessie J right? so 2 years? :P

'Turn it Around' :dancing:

It's a damn shame this hasn't made the top ten. :/

Sub Focus getting a third top 15 in a row, not bad at all. Shame his momentum is starting to go backwards again but this seemed to have no hype at all so very happy with #14. Another strong single from him albeit the 2nd weakest of the era after 'Out The Blue'.

Kele continues to only ever be tolerable outside Bloc Party (with the exception of 'Mercury').
