Yay Rihanna! 'What Now' is her best single 'What's My Name?' I think. Hope this can be big.

'What Now' has grown on me so much. :wub:, I can't believe that 'Stay' was her last top 40 hit from this album early this year. :o

 

It shows how well her other singles could have performed if they were handled better.

Jessie only needs 'Excuse My Rude' to be a hit now to match the number of top 40 hits that the non-deluxe version of Who You Are had. Yay for her not suffering from 2nd album slump syndrome!

 

Excuse My Rude has such a sick beat.

 

What Now is a great song. Nice to finally see a Rihanna single making top 40 lol.

Loving this Rihanna song actually, although I do prefer Right Now. This is better than Stay, regardless, which was such a yawnfest. :(
I'm so bored of Rihanna. Have been for a year or two now. I was hoping she'd just back off for a while and come back with an album as solid as her earlier stuff but alas.
This is definitely a return to form for Rihanna. :)

It's just weird because her last solo entry Stay reached Top 40 almost a year ago!

'What Now' is by far and away one of Rihanna's best songs since the 'Loud' era :wub:

Biography

Australian singer/songwriter Ry Cuming — better known as Ry X — found commercial success with his sparse, atmospheric single "Berlin," which was used on a European advertising campaign for Sony TVs in 2013. Born in the coastal town of Angourie, New South Wales, Cuming grew up listening to the likes of Pearl Jam and Jeff Buckley, and their influence can be heard in his distinct, ethereal vocal delivery. In 2010 he relocated to L.A. to pursue his music career and was eventually rewarded when he was noticed by Jive Records, which released his self-titled debut as Ry Cuming later that year. He went on to tour with pop/rock heavyweights Maroon 5 and enjoyed moderate success, while he also worked with pop star Sara Bareilles on album track "Always Remember Me." Following a quiet period, Cuming re-emerged in 2013 with an EP entitled Berlin under the moniker Ry X after signing to Stockholm-based label Dumont Dumont. The reverb-heavy guitar sound found on his EP is a step away from the acoustic strums and rockier edge of his previous work and evoked comparisons to Fleet Foxes and José Gonzalez. The lead single, "Berlin," charted in the U.K. Top 40 following the aforementioned European Sony advertising campaign. - iTunes

'Berlin' sounds like something that could be quite special but it just falls a bit flat as it keeps threatening to build up then just dies down again. Very nice though.

Quite fitting it is almost comparable to Jose Gonzales Heartbeats given it too was promoting a bit of HD on the TV!

I pretty much agree with this! Moments of brilliance as it does threaten to build up though.
