HMV selling it already? :o

If only there was still one in my high street. :snif:

Yep. My manager kept telling us yesterday "the minute the X-Factor winning single comes in, we need it out on the shop floor ASAP!" because people kept asking all the staff for it.

That's really upsetting actually. One of the catchiest songs of this century.

Some other Pharrell songs in the chart:

688. Nelly - Hot in Herre

981. Gwen Stefani - Hollaback Girl

1177. Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body

Timber I think has been released now, currently 65 with the tribute at 92,

That's the pre-order.

Of course it is, with no discernable melody whatsoever...

(I'll give you 'Drop It Like It's Hot' though)

13. AWOLNATION - Sail

31. Kelly Clarkson - Underneath the Tree

32. The Clutha Appeal - Won't Forget

33. Little Mix - Little Me

108. Ella Eyre - Deeper

144. Josh Groban - Your Hideaway

When did Little Me get so high? :o It was lingering around #50 when I checked earlier today.

Wonder when Pharrell will overtake Sam at the top... today's he's gained a heck of a lot of her according to Kworb... so I guess he could get back up there by the end of the week.

Would be amusing if he manages to outsell her (I know its probably more likely that Nicholas will actually be successful :D)

Their top version is back inside the top 40, #39 for me. They're still top 20 in the mids (i.e. not doing much worse than in previous years at all). I would expect all the Xmas songs to start climbing again towards the end of the week anyway and The Pogues/Mariah at least should get one more week top 100 again with the extra half a week of pre-Xmas sales. The Pogues actually stayed top 40 last year (#32) with the partial Xmas sales week, perhaps Mariah might do that this year.

The 'few extra years' argument doesn't exactly apply to the pre-digital era :P You'd have to factor in the relative sales levels for singles in their respective years as well (I don't know what they were like so I'm not necessarily refuting your point).

Until 20/12, yes.

They are rising again now - they'll all sell more I think overall pogues & Mariah usually do at least 25-30k in this week but with 3 days next week it'll be more like 25k!

Chris Rea is beginning his one week yearly ascent up the chart - he usually reaches the iTunes top 40 in the next 7 days :)

I work in HMV and checked the stock computer today for Sam's single and we'd sold 708 copies today and 215 yesterday (they didn't get delivered until like 2pm yesterday though). My manager said he was expecting it to be more popular but I thought those figures were quite impressive considering we're in the middle of a shopping centre and not exactly a massive store.

I bet it something ridiculous like 3.99 for it!

Just realised Slade Merry Xmas Everybody is 40 years of this year - 40 yrs of one of the most iconic Xmas songs ever and this time 40 years ago it was no1

15/12/1973 Slade Merry Xmas Everybody 1 {1}-1-1-1-1-3-12-22-40->9

Pherral changed to album only!?

Pharrell is his name.

It's early. Either way. What's going to happen to his song now? Does he want a bigger build up so that he can have a number 1?

Nothing, a single version has been released and is already #161 and climbing fast back up.

The whole Despicable me 2 soundtrack is album only now.

'Mr. Brightside' holding up very nicely <3

So glad it's likely to be top40 again!

It does make you wonder who on earth had never head it before or owned it before? Old grannies watching the X factor?
