This is doing so poorly considering the airplay and TV play it's receiving. I actually prefer it to 'Roar' now, but that's not saying much since I absolutely loathe the latter.

Quick question - was listening to Clyde 1 in work and they had this at #2 (as well as James Arthur in the top #5 with 'Recovery') behind Lily Allen in their chart. How is that even possible? I'm pretty sure it's the Vodafone Big Top 40.

It maybe one of their own in house made charts i.e The Hot 7@7, or the Most Wanted tracks of the day or or something like that. I doubt it's The Big Top 40 show.

This Justin Bieber song is awesome! :o Sounds like Justin Timberlake's older stuff.

I'm impressed all 10 of the songs made the top 40.

From the Justin Bieber music mondays only Roller Coaster and PYD (somewhat) were good, the others all trash.
Confident is actually quite good, Roller Coaster is far better than anything else from Music Mondays for me though.
This new Bieber song is actually not bad at all, what's wrong with me :o Chance the Rapper sounds good too, hopefully this isn't the last time he goes top 40.

I know you like to compare artists, but poor JT :(

I think Boyfriend was much more like JT.

So Justin's managed to get all 10 of his recent songs in the top 40? What a boss.

No All That Matters didnt go top 40 :cheer:

Biography

Ellie Goulding is a British vocalist whose music finds the balance between electro-pop and indie folk. Born in Hereford, England, she later moved to the country's east coast to study drama at the University of Kent. Goulding had developed a love for folk music as a teenager, and her time at University also exposed her to electronica. After two years, she took a break from her studies and moved to West London, where she pursued a career as an alternative singer/songwriter and befriended producers like Starsmith and Frankmusik, who gave her songs an electro-pop twist. In 2009, Goulding began building an audience via the internet, where early tracks like "Starry Eyed" and a cover of Sam Sparro's "Black & Gold" were posted on taste-making MP3 blogs such as Discodust. Goulding soon graduated from the blogosphere to print media, gaining praise from mainstream publications like The Guardian and fielding offers from record labels. She ultimately signed a major-label deal with Polydor Records and began making preparations to release her debut album. In the meantime, she penned songs for Diana Vickers, Gabriella Climi, and others.

During the final weeks of 2009, Goulding topped the BBC's "Sound of 2010," a poll conducted by British music critics and industry insiders to identify new talent. Building on that momentum, she released Lights — a sparkling debut album that splashed Goulding's vocal flutter across a landscape of acoustic and synthesized instruments — in March 2010. Lights topped the U.K. charts during its first week and spun off a Top Five single, "Starry Eyed," which also charted well in Ireland and New Zealand. Later that year, the album was re-released as Bright Lights, featuring seven new recordings (including a cover of Elton John's "Your Song," which peaked at number two). In 2012, Goulding returned with her sophomore album, Halcyon, which showcased an even more sonically adventurous, electro-pop-infused sound. In 2013, a deluxe reissue featuring ten extra songs was released, entitled Halcyon Days, it acted as supplement to the original release. ~ Andrew Leahey & Jason Birchmeier, Rovi / iTunes

Album Discussion Here

Well I actually really quite like 'Confident'! Mainly for Chance's part but Bieber sounding better than usual as well. Best for last ~
Hoped you would save me, Rich :D

I love it too! I was a massive B*Witched fan back in the day (my mum took me to their concert on her birthday). The instrumentation on that track is just gorgeous. (Though I think their lushest moment was 'Are You A Ghost?')

Yay for burn :cheer:

Yeah, Boyfriend was too. Also As Long as You Love Me. Justin Bieber's whole career has followed very much down the Usher/Justin Timberlake/Ne-Yo/Chris Brown route tbh.

That's probably quite likely, but they usually do air the Top 40 at that time (well, only the top 20) every week and the rest of the chart seemed relatively consistent (except Storm Queen being far too high). It was bizarre.
