One of my least favourite songs of 2013

Good when i first heard it but now ugh

Edited by Benzy

They're playing the Big Top 40 on Clyde 1 right now, so it must be a different chart they play at the time you heard it.

Ahh, looked up the schedule and turns out it's "Clyde 1's Hot 20" that's aired at that time. Oops - spent the last year thinking it was the Vodafone chart. To be fair, would probably have avoided the confusion if they didn't continuously mention it whilst playing their own (clearly bullshit) chart.

This news was posted in music week last week, not sure if anyone has caught it, Jameela will now be pitched against a new BT40 presenter in the new year Marvin Humes from JLS, he will join Kat every week.

Rajar Figures are still on 2.7 million for the BT40.

Biography

Robyn Rihanna Fenty (born February 20, 1988), known by her stage name Rihanna (/riˈɑːnə/ ree-AH-nə or /riˈænə/ ree-AN-ə, from the Welsh name Rhiannon), is a Barbadian recording artist, actress, and fashion designer. She was born in Saint Michael, Barbados, and her career began when she met record producer Evan Rogers through mutual friends in late 2003 and recorded demo tapes under Rogers's guidance. Her demo tape was sent to several record labels, and she subsequently signed a contract with Def Jam Recordings after auditioning for its president, rapper Jay-Z. Rihanna's first two studio albums, Music of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006) both peaked in the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart. The albums spawned the Billboard Hot 100 top two hit single "Pon de Replay" and her first Hot 100 number-one "SOS".

Her third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad (2007), and its chart-topping lead single "Umbrella" were major breakthroughs in her career that brought her to widespread prominence. The album and its Reloaded version (2008) produced the worldwide hit singles "Don't Stop the Music", "Take a Bow", and "Disturbia". The record was nominated for nine Grammy Awards, winning Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Umbrella", and is Rihanna's best-selling album in the US to date. After an altercation with then-boyfriend Chris Brown, Rihanna released her fourth studio album, Rated R, in November 2009. It was followed by three more albums: Loud (2010), Talk That Talk (2011), and her first Billboard 200 number one album Unapologetic (2012). That same year she appeared in her first theatrical feature film: Battleship. These albums feature the global hit singles "Rude Boy", "What's My Name?", "S&M", "Where Have You Been" and "Stay", as well as some of the best-selling singles of all time, such as "Umbrella", "Disturbia", "Only Girl (In the World)", "We Found Love", and "Diamonds". In addition to her solo work, Rihanna has collaborated with numerous other artists, including being featured on the worldwide hits "Live Your Life" (with T.I.), "Love the Way You Lie" and "The Monster" (both with Eminem).

Rihanna is known for consistently reinventing her style and image, most notably since her third album Good Girl Gone Bad. Her work has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including six Grammy Awards, eight American Music Awards, 22 Billboard Music Awards, and two BRIT Awards. She has sold over 30 million albums and 120 million singles worldwide, which makes her one of the best-selling artists of all time. She has achieved twelve number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the youngest and fastest solo artist to achieve the feat. Billboard named her the Digital Songs Artist of the 2000s decade and the top Hot 100 artist of the 2010s decade. In 2012, Forbes ranked her the fourth most powerful celebrity of the year, with earnings of $53 million between May 2011 and May 2012. The same year, TIME named Rihanna one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. On November 24, 2013, Rihanna was presented with the first ever American Music Award "Icon Award". - Wikipedia

They need to change the rules of the Big Top 40 Show at least though, because it's an extremely confusing chart. That's if they haven't already changed it, it's been a while since I last listened to it properly.

(40) Wham-Last Christmas

Next year, will mark the 30th anniversary of this tune being released and it's B-side "Everything SHe Wants" became a US chart-topper in 1985

Still loving 'Look Right Through'!
This feels like it should have been much bigger than it is, I hear it absolutely everywhere and people go crazy for it in the clubs too!
So weird to see a summer anthem like Wake Me Up still in the charts just before Christmas

Biography

Following the success of Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, and Fedde Le Grand, Nick Van de Wall, aka Afrojack, is the latest DJ, producer, and remixer to break through from the burgeoning Dutch dance music scene. Born in Spijkenisse in 1988, he began playing the piano at age five, but after getting his hands on a copy of music-sequencing program Fruity Loops, he started to play around with samples and create his own songs. After discovering the Rotterdam club scene, he began performing short DJ sets before traveling to Crete to hone his craft, playing at various clubs over a five-month period. Returning to his native Holland, he signed to the independent Digidance label and released his debut single, "Afrojack: In Your Face," before forming his own record company, Wall Recordings, scoring club hits with "Math" and "Do My Dance." Following performances at dance festivals Tomorrowland and Sensation, and a collaboration on David Guetta's One Love album ("Toyfriend"), he was invited to remix the likes of Madonna's "Revolver" and Lady Gaga's "Alejandro." In 2010, he teamed up with electro-pop vocalist Eva Simons on his first U.K. Top 40 hit, "Take Over Control," and also released a rarities album, Lost and Found, featuring nine previously unreleased tracks, in the same year. In 2011 he collaborated with Miami rapper Pitbull for the hit single "Give Me Everything" and released his own hit track "The Future." A 2012 tour of America was followed by the announcement that a new Afrojack album would be released in 2013.

Look Right Through is a really amazing song. One of those songs that I've never heard of anybody hating (in real life).

I don't understand how this track isn't Top 20 after being Top 20, even Top 15 for most of the week.

Good tune though!

The spark
