Great to see Mr Brightside top 40, it's just a pity the only rock song in the chart is 10 years old (unless there's another song in the top 40 that I've forgotten about).

Does double Bastille count?

Have you entered to the comp for 1975 Belfast tickets?

2 great records back to back  I never got round to charting Afterglow in my personal chart though.
A very welcome re-entry also from Wilkison! Afterglow.

I agree, I love it

'Afterglow' is sounding good again having not heard it for a few weeks. Not an unwelcome re-entry. Surprised it's hung around this long though!

Nice little run of tracks there from 37-33.

Need to go out in yet another storm that's coming through Cornwall this evening. Will be back later!

Biography

R&B vocalist Jason Derülo launched his career while still in his teens, first as a songwriter for other artists and later as a solo performer. Born to Haitian parents in Miramar, Florida, Derülo started singing at an early age. He attended performing arts schools in Florida and took some early stabs at music composition, writing his first song at the age of eight. His writing skills began attracting attention, and by his teenage years, Derülo had begun scribing tracks for artists like Lil Wayne, Pitbull, and Pleasure P. He also wrote "Bossy" for Birdman, a New Orleans-based rapper, and made a guest appearance on the song, which highlighted his ability as a vocalist.

After signing to a subsidiary of Warner Bros., Derülo began making the transition from behind-the-scenes songwriter to mainstream performer. His first hit arrived during the summer of 2009, when he wrapped a sample of Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" (a song made popular by its appearance in the second season finale of The O.C., as well as the Saturday Night Live sketch Dear Sister) around a sleek modern soul beat. Titled "Whatcha Say," the song topped the Billboard charts and cracked the Top Ten in multiple foreign countries, including Canada, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, and the U.K. A second single, "In My Head," peaked at number five in America, and Derülo's full-length debut album arrived in early 2010. Future History followed in 2011, along with its hit single “Don't Wanna Go Home.” ~ Jason Thurston & Andrew Leahey, Rovi / iTunes

Biography

The neo-synth pop group Bastille were formed in London, England in 2010. Originally the solo project of singer/songwriter Dan Smith, Bastille expanded to a quartet after he decided to form a band and got some of his friends involved. The band attracted a lot of attention after putting a few tracks online, leading to support slots at major U.K. festivals like Glastonbury and the Isle of Wight. While their lush, heavily '80s-inspired melodies, anthemic choruses, and literate, emotionally raw lyrics, delivered in Smith’s swooping voice, undoubtedly appealed to kids weaned on the sounds of La Roux and Florence + the Machine, at least part of the hype was due to the flagrantly copyright-breaching videos that Smith, an ardent film buff, edited together out of footage from old movies like Terrence Malick’s Badlands. Eventually they secured a deal with hip indie label Young and Lost Club and released their debut 7” single, Flaws/Icarus, in July 2011. This was followed later that year by Laura Palmer EP, named for the teenaged murder victim in David Lynch’s cult '90s TV series Twin Peaks; the creepy accompanying video for the track “Overjoyed” was also heavily inspired by the series. The group returned in 2013 with their debut album Bad Blood. ~ John D. Buchanan, Rovi / iTunes

Wow! I never expected Bastille to climb this week! :o I'm not complaining though....great track! :D

I still find it hard to categorize Bastille. They definitely appeal to rock fans, but not a single guitar is used on the album (although they do occasionally use them live).

I didn't realise there was a competition for 1975 Belfast tickets. Link?

I always forget just how big this song was, I guess it is because commercial radio hardly seem to play it for whatever reason.

Lover Not a Fighter is the worst four words you can pick up from Michael Jackson's back catalogue.

Even "What about elephants!" would be better.

So the song must be horrible.
