April 27, 201412 yr It goes without saying, but this Kooks track is bloody awful, even by their unbelievably low standards. I can't believe they even recorded it, let alone managed to get it into the top 40.
April 27, 201412 yr Of all the directions I thought the Kooks might take in 2014, ripping off 'Dumb' by the 411 is the second-last I'd have expected. Obviously the least likely of all would be for them to actually make a good record.
April 27, 201412 yr Kudos to the Kooks for staying relevant when many bands of their type have been wiped from existence. This isn't that bad actually, She Moves In Her Own Way is still such a tune. Edited April 27, 201412 yr by Krusty Wombat
April 27, 201412 yr 39 00 01 Lana Del Rey Gods & Monsters Born To Die - The Paradise Edition / Tropico (Single) | 2013 http://a5.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music6/v4/19/95/80/1995802a-22e5-e6fd-76e5-ebcdceb19556/13UAEIM12686.170x170-75.jpg Chart Run: 39 Format: download only track Label: Polydor Video here: oD2XV_Ri800 Biography Vocalist Lana Del Rey makes atmospheric, orchestral, retro-'60s-sounding pop that showcases her torchy image and sensuous singing style. A native of Lake Placid, New York, Del Rey released the single "Kill Kill" under her given name, Lizzy Grant, in 2009 before remaking herself into the pop femme fatale character Lana Del Rey. A video for the single "Video Games" appeared online in August of 2011 and drew considerable buzz, as did a secret show she performed at Brooklyn's Grasslands Gallery that September. Del Rey's EP, featuring the songs "Video Games" and "Blue Jeans," was released in fall 2011. Amidst a heavy dose of hype, her debut album Born to Die was announced by Interscope for release early the following year. Del Rey cemented the anticipation around the album with an appearance on Saturday Night Live, becoming the first artist since Natalie Imbruglia in 1998 to perform on the show before the release of her debut album. Born to Die hit number one in several European countries, reached number two on the U.S. charts, and eventually sold several million copies worldwide. By the end of 2012, Del Rey had released her next work, a mini-album titled Paradise, with a trailer single called "Ride." - iTunes Chart history (Year peak title): 2011 09 Video Games -1- 2012 09 Born To Die -2- 2012 32 Blue Jeans -3- 2012 60 Blue Velvet -PS- 2012 32 Ride -4- 2013 23 Young And Beautiful -OST- 2013 04 Summertime Sadness (Lana Del Rey Vs. April 27, 201412 yr Gods & Monsters is actually really good, I think I may be turning into a Lana fan :D
April 27, 201412 yr Ooh Lana! http://cdn.theatlantic.com/static/mt/assets/science/lana_del_rey_-_spin.gif
April 27, 201412 yr Gods & Monsters!! SO glad this managed to sneak in - definitely one of my favourites from Born to Die (the Paradise Edition). So atmospheric! This radio edit though. Loving the Eastenders advert it's taken from also, the cinematography.
April 27, 201412 yr Lana's done pretty well of the Born To Die album. I do like Gods and Monsters. You can hear where R1 have edited it too
April 27, 201412 yr The Kooks just sneaking into the top 40 several years after their last entry peaked at #41 - similar story to The Afghan Whigs' album last week. 'Down' is kinda... not very good at all on first listen? Lost as to how THAT has given them a chart comeback but kinda loving having them in the chart again nonetheless. It's kinda catchy I guess. First time hearing 'Gods And Monsters', impressive that it's made the top 40. Sounds pretty good, would have been a much better single than 'Ride' I think.
April 27, 201412 yr Lana's done pretty well of the Born To Die album. I do like Gods and Monsters. You can hear where R1 have edited it too  Apparently she's looking to get huffed hard :P
April 27, 201412 yr This radio edit is a bit of a mess! :P Very pleased to see managed to sneak into the Top 40, definitely a highlight on the Paradise edition of Born to Die. Could Eastenders include 'Ride' and 'American' on their adverts next please!
April 27, 201412 yr Obviously Radio 1 had to make their own in-house radio edit of this - the editing on this is very conspicuous.
April 27, 201412 yr Such a random new entry/choice of song for an advert over a year after it came out, but great to see Lana here anyway. I've just listened to her brand new song - kinda boring? :( Edited April 27, 201412 yr by Krusty Wombat
April 27, 201412 yr 38 40 08 Kristen Bell And Idina Menzel For The First Time In Forever Frozen - OST | 2013 http://a2.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music/v4/c4/fb/f7/c4fbf7a1-1dec-6d1c-8526-7fa4ae0e2ccc/13DMGIM04457.170x170-75.jpg Chart Run: 73-75-66-71-xx(6 wks)-56-38-40-38 Format: download only track Label: Walt Disney Records Sales: 60k+ Video here: wmoR82v6G5o Frozen - the movie Frozen is a 2013 American 3D computer-animated musical fantasy-comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the 53rd animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Snow Queen, and featuring the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, and Santino Fontana, the film tells the story of a fearless princess who sets off on an epic journey alongside a rugged, thrill-seeking mountain man, his loyal pet reindeer, and a hapless snowman to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have inadvertently trapped the kingdom in eternal winter. The film underwent several story treatments for several years, before being commissioned in 2011, with a screenplay written by Jennifer Lee, and both Chris Buck and Lee serving as directors. Christophe Beck, who had worked on Disney's award-winning short Paperman, was hired to compose the film's orchestral score, while husband-and-wife songwriting team Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez penned the songs. Frozen premiered at the El Capitan Theatre on November 19, 2013, and went into general release on November 27. Not accounting for inflation, the film is the highest-grossing animated film of all time and the ninth highest-grossing film of all time, having so far grossed $1.09 billion in worldwide box office revenue, $398 million of which in the United States and Canada. It was met with widespread critical acclaim, and several film critics considered it to be the best Disney animated musical since the studio's renaissance era. The film won two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song ("Let It Go"), the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film, five Annie Awards (including Best Animated Feature), and two Critics' Choice Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song ("Let It Go"). - Wikipedia Chart history (Year peak title): Kristen Bell 2014 30 Do You Want To Build A Snowman?
