Does anyone know how many previous Eurovision songs have reached the top 40 that are not the winning song or the British or Irish entry?

Well from my research the other day the only one in the download era is Verka Serduchka's 'Dancing Lasha Tumbai' reaching #28 in 2007 (and that was morally the winner so it only half counts ~) Not sure if there are likely to be any before that. I think there is a big list of all Eurovision songs to chart somewhere on the forum though.

Blondie at #12! :cheer: Massive improvement from the #73 peak of their last studio album, suppose it does help that there's a greatest hits with new vocals attached to it and that they've been touring a lot. Hopefully it's safe for a Top 20 peak.

Isn't it basically being marketed as a greatest hits album with a new album tagged on rather than the other way round? I remember Pretenders doing something similar as well.

I'm surprised conitcha hasn't come over and done a bit of promo considering how everybody is still talking about him.

Also the common linnets should try to pop over too and secure their top 5! They won't and it'll be lucky to stay top 10 of course.

Conchita is on the Graham Norton show on Friday (not performing though apparently). Hopefully that should help 'Rise Like A Phoenix' at least peak higher than 'Only Teardrops'.

Are Embraces album still top 40 today? (unlikely since it's drop last week).

No its not top 40.

Some of the big falling albums, might just sneak back in though, I can't see the Swans and Killer Be Killed in the top 40 tomorrow.

His tax business has all but vanished now from the TV newscreens and papers - it was hidden away in the middle anyway (unlike Carr's business where the press kept it front page for weeks) so people are probably still loved up by the Corden Lickarse-athon. Someone may bring the subject up on Question Time this week (if its still on that is - I lose track and it'll be past my bedtime anyway) but after that I should imagine the whole business will be forgotten. Some of us will Never Forget like, but his fans have a lot of Patience and think the sun Shines out of his arse!

Sorry Martin for going off track - these are the last words from me on the subject (in this forum anyway) B-)

You've always been my favourite Kath on this site.

Oh Thanks! Who is the other Kath anyway - I'd love to chat to her! She sounds a lot like me (but probably a lot younger).

Hoping the Black Keys can somehow get to #1. Looking likely that Rita will do around 105-110K, better than I expected to be honest so props to her (still don't like the song tho).

I reckon that it is very rare for a Non UK or Ireland non winning entry to chart in the UK top 40. I think it has happened on five previous occasions.

They are

Domenico Modugno Sep 1958 No 10 Volare

Domenico Modugno Mar 1959 No 29 Ciao Ciao Bambina (Piove)

Gigliola Cinquetti May 1974 No 8 Go (Si)

Mouth & MacNeal May 1974 No 8 I see a star

Verka Serduchka May 2007 No 28 Dancing Lasha tambai

Hope this answers your question.

Come on Common Linnets, Sanna and Basim to join them.

I am also hopeful some of the other entries can hold onto top 100 by Sunday. It is going to be close so please download Eurovision 2014 songs. I would like to see Sebalter, Twin Twin, Softengine, Pollaponk and the interval song from Emmelie De Forest hold onto top 100!

Thanks. I thought it was rare and it looks like I was right. I had forgotten that I See A Star was a Eurovision song.

Not forgetting Nicole: A little Peace-which topped the UK chart in 1982!

Dur-sorry-i see now you said 'non winning entry'

Sorry-it's late.

Nice to see Agnetha still charting a year after the release!
Kate Ryan should have had a hit with 'Je Adore'.

Did she even make it to the Eurovision finals?

I'm still disappointed that her 'Ella Elle La' didn't even make the T200 here. :(

This appears by far to be Agnetha's most successful solo era by far.

its a sin that the Gary duet has not been pushed as a single release - its an amazing song

She would have to record a song with that title first. As it's nonsense, I doubt if she would.

She did, however, have a song called 'Je t'adore' in Eurovision 2006, but, owing to a ropey performance involving twinks and lightsabres, we were spared seeing it in the final.

black Keys #1 :D

#11 for Jacko, from the bits Ive heard of the album Love Never is not the best song on it by a mile, so surprised its doing so well

Do You Know Where Your Children Are is a proper lost classic, as ironic as the title may be. Really strong album overall though, so much better than the 2010 one.
