May 27, 201412 yr I think the minimum length may have something to do with it. An album has to be over 25 minutes or four songs so the Royksopp / Robyn release qualifies on both counts. http://c0903002.cdn.cloudfiles.rackspacecl...-april-2013.pdf
May 27, 201412 yr Sheezus' chart run is going to look awful really.. 01-06-11-16 (or lower) It's not that bad, I was expecting it to look more like ARTPOP's. It deserves worse than it's getting anyhow.
May 27, 201412 yr 40k for Sam Smith?! That's almost as much as I thought he'd sell all week! :o After 2 100k selling #1 singles? (Not to mention the fact 'Stay With Me' could easily pass for an Emeli Sandé song). An album has to be over 25 minutes or four songs so the Royksopp / Robyn release qualifies on both counts. http://c0903002.cdn.cloudfiles.rackspacecl...-april-2013.pdf I'm pretty sure the number of tracks requirement must be 6 regardless of what this says, there have been several 5 track EPs that did not count towards either chart in recent years (The 1975's 'Music For Cars' comes to mind). I didn't actually realise the running time of 'Do It Again' was so long.
May 27, 201412 yr That rule would be a bit of a blow for any revival of Tubular Bells which has only two tracks but is definitely an album. Two of the tracks on Do It Again are nearly ten minutes long and the whole thing is around 35 minutes. I think with album sales the way they are, the OCC won't want to disqualify any albums from the chart that are actually selling
May 27, 201412 yr LA LA LA Naughty Boy ft. Sam Smith (2013) 997,000, its only 3k away or even less from a million, Sam's album will probably give the track a little push :D edit... actually its on 998k (updated)

La La La is likely to be confirmed as a million-selling single in the next few weeks. You read it here first :D After all, the OCC won't necessarily announce it as soon as it happens.
May 27, 201412 yr After 2 100k selling #1 singles? Well Rita Ora sold 41k on debut in 2012 (which is actually higher than I would have thought) :P. I do realise Sam + 'Stay With Me' is infinitely more album-seller material though. Looks like he may just scrape another 100k debut (although it's too early to tell for sure IMO - Paolo sold 43.6k on his first day).
May 27, 201412 yr #25 Yikes! Hopefully it can climb a few places as it's just climbed up on amazon and holding up a bit better on itunes
May 27, 201412 yr Not very good 2nd week for Coldplay. Actually it's doing a bit better in the States (maybe 400k debut)
May 27, 201412 yr Fair play to M.A.D for being Top 25 on basically physical sales - The MP3 version was not added to iTunes until midnight on Monday.
May 28, 201412 yr Is Kylie's Kiss Me Once still top 75 on album chart? top 100? New single Crystallize out 9th June! Gooooo Kylie, cancer charity single
May 28, 201412 yr I'm shocked how Coldplays sales have plummeted. I really thought they would easily get a second week at number one but I'm happy for Sam if he gets it Great start for Second City but I think 100k is unlikely, maybe 95k
May 28, 201412 yr Don't think Coldplay sales are that bad. Still in line to be around 70k by the end of the week. In this sales climate that's pretty good. Sam Smiths album looks like being a decent seller too. Will be interesting to see how the top 5 biggest selling albums of the year change over the next months or so
May 28, 201412 yr What's the issue? Sam Smith is very popular and it's hardly the worst #1 ever, go figure. Also, it won't do much apart from keep him at #2. He might be popular but I'm not a fan at all. Don't like his voice.

May 28, 201412 yr Coldplay are yet to have an album which HASN'T sold at least 4xplatinum. Under 250k in two weeks is not very good for them. That said, Paolo Nutini is struggling a bit too. Edited May 28, 201412 yr by SKOB
May 28, 201412 yr Everybody is affected by the dying album market. I'm even expecting Take That to open on 250k or less, maybe lower after the tax fiddling of three of them, poor Jason Orange
May 28, 201412 yr Coldplay are yet to have an album which HASN'T sold at least 4xplatinum. Under 250k in two weeks is not very good for them. Looking at their discography, it is amazing how all their albums managed to sell over 1 million in the UK. It shouldn't matter that much if they don't reach 1m this time round, mainly because they do amazingly well on tours anyway. Their last tour grossed $192.5 million from 85 shows.
