Am I the only one who expected these kind of sales from Lana? The hype is practically nonexistent.

I don't think 'West Coast' was an appropriate lead single but maybe out of the whole album, it was the best choice. Hopefully Ultraviolence gets some great TV promo - I'm talking Graham Norton, Jonathan Ross, X Factor etc.

I found 'West Coast' took too long to get into (I don't know if I probably have clicked with it yet either). I think 'Shades of Blue' or 'Brooklyn Baby' would have been better, perhaps it's just down to personal taste but I feel they are more appealing and they sound the most similar to the music on Born to Die.

Ed Sheeran's '+' at #11 today - if it can climb into the top 10 for Sunday that'll make it 4 calendar years in a row where it has had at least one week in the top 10! Can't think of any other albums that have managed that recently (Mumford & Sons' 'Sigh No More' came very close to not just 4 but 5, as its peaks between 2009 and 2013 read 11-3-2-10-12, while Michael Bublé's 'Christmas' also had 3 and may get a 4th this year).

That would be a great achievement for '+', hope he manages it.

 

Hate acts like 5SOS just taking advantage of impressionable people of a certain age and getting sales like this at first with less and less relevance with each passing year, 2 weeks for Ghost please

I think it's done quite well for a song with zero Capital FM support! (though I did always think 'Ready For Your Love' sounded like the much bigger hit out of the two)

 

Anyone know what the biggest gap made up is with both songs released on Sunday

Looks like it will be a huge week for Ed Sheeran all round on both charts.

Album top 2 just shows what happens when lead singles don't do well. Coldplay are holding up very well but wouldn't be anywhere near LP if "Guilty All The Same" had done as well as "Burn It Down".

7k in one day and her lead if growing over them; so I think by the end of Saturday she'll have got back to number 1

It was higher earlier but never near the top 40 (peaked in the 50s or so I think). New releases are often higher in the early mids than iTunes would suggest, not really sure why (people usually explain it by pointing out the fact that pre-orders are included but they're clearly included on iTunes as well so I don't quite get that).

 

They had a #75 single with 'Wraith' last year and a #16 album with their debut 'In Love', it seems that they are already quickly moving onto album 2.

Anyway it certainly looks like Ella may well keep #1 now, closing the gap by quite a bit more than she needed to per day. Still won't hold my breath though :P

It's the fact that iTunes is a rolling chart also, so new releases have a disadvantage of however many days compared to the official chart which counts from Sunday onwards.
