Biography

Cheryl Ann Fernandez-Versini (née Tweedy, formerly Cole; born 30 June 1983), known professionally as Cheryl Cole, is an English recording artist, songwriter, dancer, and television personality. She rose to fame in late 2002 when she auditioned for the reality television show Popstars: The Rivals on ITV. The programme announced that Cole had won a place as a member of the girl group Girls Aloud. The group's line-up remained the same throughout their history and during that time the group achieved a string of twenty consecutive top ten singles in the United Kingdom (including four number one singles) and six platinum albums (two of which went to number one) and earned five BRIT Award nominations from 2005 to 2010. In 2009, Girls Aloud won "Best Single" with their song "The Promise". In early 2013, Girls Aloud announced that they had split up.

Cole embarked on a solo career and released her first solo studio album 3 Words (2009) through Polydor records. 3 Words saw the release of three successful singles and the lead single from the album, "Fight for This Love," debuted at number one on the UK charts, becoming the best selling single of the year. "3 Words" and "Parachute" both peaked within the top five of the UK charts. 2010 saw the release of Cole's second studio album Messy Little Raindrops, which produced two singles, the first being "Promise This" which went straight to number one. Cole released her third solo album A Million Lights on 18 June 2012, with lead single "Call My Name" being released on 11 June 2012, the single became Cole's third number one single. During her solo career, Cole has earned three BRIT Award nominations.

Cole has become a recognised and photographed style icon; referred to as a fashionista by the press. She has been photographed for the covers of British Vogue, Elle and Harper's Bazaar, while becoming the new face of cosmetic company L'Oréal. Cole was married to England footballer Ashley Cole from July 2006 until September 2010, when she divorced him following the announcement of their separation earlier that year. Cole became a judge on the UK version of The X Factor in 2008, becoming the winning judge twice out of the three series she judged. In 2011, Cole left the UK version of The X Factor to judge the American version. However, Cole was sacked from the show. Cole's net worth was estimated at £15 million in April 2012. On 10 March 2014, it was announced that Cole would return as a judge on the U.K. version of The X Factor for its eleventh series, signing a £1.5 million contract. - Wikipedia

'Crazy Stupid Love' is so technically awful but is such an earworm!

MAGIC! is leagues ahead though, SO happy that it's got to #1! :cheer:  :yahoo:

Not too fussed on Magic! personally I would of preferred Cheryl to get another week, but I can see 'Rude' is popular.

fabuloso! amazing to see ZHU smash the top 3 even with streaming taken into account, Faded is so good.

Would ZHU going top 3 make him the first anonymous artist to do so?

Hank Mizell reached number three in 1976. Nobody really knew who he was when the song first reached the chart. It was originally released in 1958 but flopped. Some DJ discovered it, started playing it on his show and it became a hit. He was tracked down eventually but I can't remember whether it was before or after the song reached its peak.

Biography

OneRepublic is an American pop rock band from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Formed in 2002 by Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins, the band achieved commercial success on MySpace as an unsigned act. In 2003, the band was discovered by actress Kelly Barrett in Hollywood who connected them directly with her cousins Jimmy Ienner and Donnie Ienner, who was the President of Sony at that time, by making one phone call to get the AR Reps to their show. They then signed to Sony BMG for three years, before moving to Mosley Music Group.

In 2007, OneRepublic released their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud. Its lead single, "Apologize" was notably remixed by Timbaland, becoming a huge international success, reaching number one in sixteen countries, subsequently earning them a Grammy Award nomination. The second single, "Stop and Stare" mirrored its predecessor's success. The album was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The band's second album, Waking Up (2009), produced the successful singles, "All the Right Moves", "Secrets", "Marchin On", and "Good Life", the latter reaching the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100.

OneRepublic's third album, Native (2013), became the band's first top ten album on the Billboard 200, and highest charting album to date, charting at number four. The lead single, "If I Lose Myself" charted within the top ten in several countries, while the album's third single, "Counting Stars", became the band's most successful single in recent years, obtaining top five placements in Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, the U.S. and the UK. This marks their highest charting single in the United Kingdom to date. It has also peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, matching their highest peak of "Apologize" in 2007. - Wikipedia

It was after, as fans of the Top Of The Pops repeats will recall - the song was danced to by Pan's People in the first episode to be repeated.

By the time he was found and arrived in Europe, the song was out of the chart, so he only appeared on TotP as an interview guest- that and the dance sequence that follows are classic TotP oddness (Savile warning though).
