December 10, 201510 yr If I was Kylie I would have a price reduction 24 hours on Friday the day of her concert. Try get up the charts then when promo for Strictly kicks in put prices back to normal. I thought this the other day - This is an impulse buy for much of the general public and as it has limited shelf for a consumer, her record label should definately reduce the download version to £4.99 for the standard version especially now her core fans would already have it and there is no hit single from the album to help sell it.
December 10, 201510 yr Thanks for the measured reply but for me there is a discrepancy as they could easily have used SHH as much in the VT's and as a backing track, its also a catchy song. It just makes sense to me that a song will "connect" with the public more, if they hear it more and Sax was inescapable for weeks on end, sometimes twice at a time in ad breaks during XF and obviously at other times as well. I'm not saying the show shouldn't use the opportunity to promote its own acts but I am believer in favouring the winner and letting them have their moment. However I do realise this is not the first time a runner up has been pimped much more than someone who won the show (and by a large margin) Fleur also got to perform on the show the week of her release for maximum impact while Ben had to wait 2 weeks with no promo allowing things to stall. To me it was clear it was done to give Fleur the best possible chance. Anyhow I will leave it there :) Lets see how it pans out for them both in the future. It doesn't really matter who won the X Factor and who didn't. Ben won and got to release a winner's single. I think Syco put effort into both albums, but we must take into account that Ben and Fleur are two different artists. Ben is a 30 years old pop/rock singer that is just starting out. it's no wonder the hit stations like BBC Radio 1 and Capital ignored him. And since the hit stations help drive the single sales, it's not surprised the single didn't sell that well. Fleur was lucky to get a song placed in the ASDA commercial. Plus her sound is much more appealing to the hit radio stations. Ultimately, I think Ben easily won the X Factor because of who he is: male, 30 years old, pop/rock singer, very appealing to female audience of all ages, but especially middle aged women. Fleur had no chance against him. Now the tables have turned. X Factor's voters =/= music buyers

I bet a fair whack that Syco paid to have Sax on the Asda advert.
December 10, 201510 yr Phew, catching up on this thread was a bit of an effort! Kylie vs Bublé and now Fleur vs Ben. :drama:  Re: Fleur vs Ben, Noah raised some excellent & balanced points, which I completely agree with, so I don't feel there's much point reiterating. :kink: ~ I really hope Mariah will make the Top 10 on Friday! *Fingers crossed*
December 10, 201510 yr It is an xmas album it has these weeks to get as much money as possible as come Jan it will be being sold for peanuts. That's actually when I'll buy it! If it had rave reviews I'd buy it now as I love Christmas albums and have loads, but it hasn't.
December 10, 201510 yr Just wait for the inevitable GT/Attitude shoot from Ben, his sales will sky rocket and snatch all the weaves. :smoke:
December 10, 201510 yr Author Adele has only managed to sell 300,000 albums so far this week.Any other week and Coldplay's 220,000ish would look stellar. Meanwhile Fleur East has been pushed out of the top 10 so that's probably the end of that then. Minty
December 10, 201510 yr Minty Does he deliberately try and be antagonistic? 'Only' 300k, Fleur 'done'

December 10, 201510 yr Kylie needs a good start to the week tomorrow before promo sets in again on Sunday on Strictly..... She will be busy with her concert tomorrow I would love if she could do 2 songs on Sunday's Strictly Show..... only You and Every Days like Christmas.......... but she will probably do an Xmas version of I should Be so lucky..... sigh.....

There is nothing to suggest that she'll do anything like that :/ she's performed tracks from the album on all her promo spots.
December 10, 201510 yr Poor Coldplay, that's not fair to push the second biggest album of the year first week and be number 2 :( I guess with the X factor and the NBC Special and that we're getting close to Christmas... 25 will do at least 400K next week?

Usually the way with releases from mid November onwards - often one massive album beats huge selling runners up week in, week out.
December 10, 201510 yr Kylie is singing I'm Gonna Be Warm This Winter on Strictly FYI Loving how she is performing different tracks but this one is not a personal fave. Surely the new single needs a live performance.

I can see it getting a #4 in the year-end chart though which is also very good! So it would be the second biggest album of the year released in 2015. Edited December 10, 201510 yr by Zárate
December 10, 201510 yr Kylie is singing I'm Gonna Be Warm This Winter on Strictly FYI Urgh. I'm dying for her to perform 'Christmas Isn't Christmas 'Til You Get Here' somewhere. :arrr: The performance on Royal Variety was nice aesthetically and she looked great, but unfortunately the song (or her version of it) is painful. Still, at least this is a bit more fun.

I think they ment 2nd biggest first week opening sales of the year  :P

The charts aren't fair. I would say Coldplay are far from poor. I wonder how far up the YTD chart they can get by the end of the year.
