Kinda pointless telling us the most downloaded when physicals contribute a hell of a lot to the overall totals.

Been getting "No Sleeep" because you can't wait for Janet Jackson's new album? Think you're going to "Scream" if you don't hear some new Janet music soon? We know the feeling.

The bona fide member of pop royalty Janet Jackson releases her 11th studio album Unbreakable on 2October, and while we wait, we're rewinding slightly to check out the biggest songs of her 30-year career.

Before we unveil the full Top 40 most downloaded Janet tracks, let's take a closer look at the all-important Top 5. Watch out Stanets, some serious chart stats heading your way.

1: Together Again

In pole position, one of Janet's first forays into dance music saw her pay tribute to her close pals who were no longer with us. As usual, Janet's dance routine for Together Again was a masterclass in precision and pliability.

Over 50,000 copies of the song have been downloaded since we started counting in 2005 – not bad to say the song came out a whole seven years earlier and sold a whopping 747,000 on physical format.

PEAK: 4

YEAR: 1997

ChartFact: Together Again is Janet's biggest selling single in the UK, even though it only got to Number 4. It's sold over 798,000 copies in total

2: Scream

You'd think with two megastars in the family, Michael and Janet would have teamed up for a guaranteed smash pretty often, but we had to wait until 1995 before the swivel-hipped duo got together for this classic.

Not a Number 1, sadly, but another Top 3 smash for the pair, Scream's total chart sales tally stands at over 200,000. At the time, its video was rumoured to be the most expensive ever – imagine if it had been in colour. Twice the price!

PEAK: 3

YEAR: 1995

ChartFact: Scream was Janet's eighth Top 10 hit. She's racked up 17 altogether.

3: All For You

"Got a nice package, all right," sang Janet in this saucy, retro R&B jam – no idea wha she was referring to, of course. All For You was stopped from hitting the top by the combined might of Spice Girl Emma Bunton and Shaggy.

She's only had one Top 10 since, with Feel It Boy the collabo with Beenie Man from 2002.

PEAK: 3

YEAR: 2001

ChartFact: All For You was Janet's fourth single to peak at Number 3

4: The Best Things In Life Are Free

It seems we really love Janet when she teams up with another superstar. Her collaboration with silky-voiced legend Luther Vandross was so popular, it hit the Top 10 twice!

The Best Things In Life Are Free was first released in 1992 and became Janet's first serious challenge for the top spot, held off at number 2 by Snap's Rhythm Is A Dancer.

Three years later, it was back! A remixed version peaked at Number 7.

PEAK: 2

YEAR: 1992

ChartFact: The Best Things in Life Are Free came close, but Janet has never had a Number 1 single in the UK. The 1992 version of the song was the 17th biggest selling single of that year.

5: That's The Way Love Goes

Leading off the huge album Janet, That's The Way Love Goes saw Janet take a more mature direction, and having her second Number 2 peak in a row. She's not been that high since, believe it or not.

PEAK: 2

YEAR: 1993

ChartFact: That's The Way Love Goes has sold over 214,000 copies.

Her most downloaded '80s song is…

When I Think of You! Taken from Janet's breakthrough album Control, When I Think of You reached Number 10 in 1986 and was the third of an incredible seven singles to come from that one release. It was her first chart-topper in the US.

Other notable entries

Janet's first ever UK Top 10 What Have You Done For Me Lately just makes it into her Top 10 most downloaded tracks (10). What Have You Done for Me Lately was the 60th bestselling single of 1986 and has shifted over 252,000 copies. Her most recent Top 40 hit, Call On Me, a team-up with rapper Nelly, finishes two spots above at 8.

Janet's most recent single No Sleeep makes an appearance already – it's at Number 19.

Bonus ChartFact: Janet's first ever chart entry was way back in 1984. The song? Why, it was a duet called Two To The Power Of One. And her duetting partner? Well, it was Cliff Richard, actually. No, for real. The track peaked at Number 83.

Unfortunately, this is just the same article that was posted by them last September. :( The only thing different is the publish date.
Together Again  One of my favourite records of all time

Funnily enough, 'Again' and 'Together Again' are my two favourite songs by her. Maybe she needs to release another song with 'Again' in the title. Again.

But yeah this is a bit of a pointless list really, I'd rather see a list of her total sales.

Edited by Mango

I don't know, its interesting to see long running artists' trickle sales of songs they released ages ago. I find, anyway. I'd definitely find a list like this for someone like Madonna or U2 interesting, to see what older songs kept their popularity or became unexpectedly popular.
I still can't believe that barely anyone is downloading Got Til It's Gone.

Yeah weird that GTIG isnt top40 at least.

Rhythm Nation did remarkably well considering how old it is and the meh peak it had back then

Janet's sales for her 90s records. The number in brackets is the position of the record in the 1990s decade chart

Togther Again - 743,501 (60)

The Best Things In Life Are Free - 246,105 (457) (1992 release)

Scream - 244,239 (461)

Gone 'Til It's Gone - 193,654 (621)

That's The Way Love Goes - 188,085 (649)

Again - 155,568 (835)

Runaway - 152,829 (852)

The Best Things In Life Are Free (Remix) - 152,001 (860) (1995 release)

Whoops Now / What'll I Do - 151,045 (866)

What's It Gonna Be - 141,763 (927)

Sales to March 1997 were based on the old chart panel compilation method so the sales figures may be higher than the figures the OCC hold.

Janet Jackson's Official Top 40 most downloaded songs

16 May 2017 | By Justin Myers

Refresh yourself with Miss Jackson's stellar back catalogue of heavy hitters.

Happy Birthday Janet Jackson!

It would be rude to reveal a lady's age, but not to unveil her most downloaded singles of all-time, so that's exactly what we're going to do today (May 16) to celebrate the fact the iconic performer is still going strong.

Before we unveil the full Top 40 most downloaded Janet tracks, let's take a closer look at the all-important Top 5. Watch out Stanets, some serious chart stats heading your way.

PEAK: 4

YEAR: 1997

ChartFact: Together Again is Janet's biggest selling single in the UK, even though it only got to Number 4. Interestingly, although Janet has scored 9 Top 5 singles, Together Again is her only one to peak at Number 4.

2: Scream

You'd think with two megastars in the family, Michael and Janet would have teamed up for a guaranteed smash pretty often, but we had to wait until 1995 before the swivel-hipped duo got together for this classic.

PEAK: 2

YEAR: 1993

ChartFact: That's The Way Love Goes has sold over 214,000 copies. Another song to peak at Number 2, Janet holds the record as the solo artist with the most Top 10 hits that never scored a UK chart topper. Yet. There are plenty of bangers left in her yet!

Her most downloaded '80s song is…

I've always been baffled by that, surely the release was botched or something, I can't remember  Absolute banger and #114 or whatever it is is a ridiculous peak.

It was simply a case of it gaining absolutely zero airplay or support here, so it struggled to ever get anywhere.

Ooh, how do you know the positions for the 90s chart out of the top 100, would love to see the top 1000 or even top 200 :)

Time for La Toya's Top 10 really!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSS!!!

She and Rebbie share a birthday on May 29th so they could do a combined chart.

I've always been baffled by that, surely the release was botched or something, I can't remember  Absolute banger and #114 or whatever it is is a ridiculous peak.

I'm guessing it was an early OA/OS release and then it never gained momentum anywhere.

Wow she's never had a no.1!! :o

I'd always heard that Together Again was in a huge chart battle vs Sunchyme and lost out and came second.

Her best three songs are in the top3, but where is Doesn't Really Matter? That should be top4!!

I also thought she was as big as Madonna at one point but apparently not!

Sadly she was never as big here as she was in America. Still an impressive collection of hits.

Super Bowl really destroyed her mainstream career. Had some fantastic output since then which hasn't got the attention it deserved. Unbreakable was in my personal top 3 albums of 2015.
