I don't see Drake getting a 10th week at number 1. Kungs has more momentum than JT had at any point.. and he did get very close at one stage. I expect Kungs will be at 3 this week and climb to 1 next week quite easily now.

I agree, I really hate the "chilled" sort of house with these tropical guitar instrumentals, like Waves, Prayer In C, Are You With Me, this, they're so vapid and tedious.

Yes European popular house music is generic tropical and not great at the minute. I wonder if we left the EU would we not have to hear these songs again....

I much prefer This Girl to all of those songs because of the trumpet instrumental which gives it something extra to all of those songs which just remain "chill" from start to finish and often don't really ever pick up imo.

Thank god for this!! I thought I was the only one. Utter shit the lot of them and one of the genres that's really made me lose a lot of chart love in recent years - they're undoubtably (extremely) popular but leave me hugely cold.

If I were Dua's record label now I'd get this put to 59p as it *could* go A-list on Radio 1 on Friday and it could go top 50 on Spotify tomorrow so it really could still turn into quite the hit.

Yes having grown up listening to the warmth of dance music around 2005 when a lot of dance tracks had uplifting strings and disco vocals in them and the songs were lively throughout and you didnt have to listen to long acoustic verses before you got to the actual danceable bit in the chorus, it really sounds quite depressing.

Which is why that Clean Bandit and Louisa track is a breath of fresh air.

Ooh Kiiara climbing very quickly! I swear she was still around the 70s last time I checked (though this might have been a while ago )
I'm definitely on the anti-"slow tropical house" train. Waves especially irritates me and I just find the entire genre bland. I really miss the House renaissance of 2013 to be honest - Disclosure, Duke Dumont, Le Youth etc. That was a stellar year for chart music.

2013 felt like the best year for chart music for ages at the time... I'd certainly argue dance music isn't as good now as it was then.

19  OneRepublic - Wherever I Go

New iTunes peak! I wish Capital would support it already though :(

Come on One Republic! Ryan Tedder is such a legend - loving this.

It reminded me of 2003 in terms of how busy the music scene was at the time - there were a lot of major artists releasing in both years. Also, it felt like 2013 was the peak of digital downloads with the monster run of Get Lucky - La La La - Blurred Lines... I miss that year. :(

As you miss 2013 this video should make you happy! Some of these songs are still in the upper echelons of the iTunes chart to this day!

Ahh the memories. Watching that kinda makes me want Miley back in the charts.

They need to stop supporting "Counting Stars" and get on board with this
