June 23 2016 - the day the United Kingdom died. RIP.

Indeed. Today marks the end of the United Kingdom, 400 years of shared history since the union of crowns destroyed by ideological warfare. Can't forget the reunification of Ireland!

I wish I'd chosen to go to sleep, because this is just demoralising. Only consolation is the overwhelming remain vote from Scotland, particularly my native city/Glasgow. Another indyref is surely inevitable after this?

I would be surprised if the next time a member of the press speaks to a Scottish Nationalist that they don't mention it.

Scotland is definitely going independent within a matter of years now aren't they. And I really don't blame them.

My plan to one day move to Iceland is getting more real by the minute.

Their EU membership is dependant on ours. Watch España shut that border by lunch.

Oh yes this is very true. Iceland it is! Was good knowing you Britain.

Staying up all night was a pretty thrilling experience tbh. Shame it had to end so badly.

Please tell me why the walking dead should be allowed to vote in decisions like this:

The ones that have to live with this decision are voting in, the ones that won't have pulled us out.

Here's a question. A couple dozen Tory MPs may yet be charged with falsifying their election expense returns. If they are convicted, their results will be overturned. That could potentially wipe out the government's majority. Is there any chance that legislation passed over the last year (including the referendum) could be declared invalid?
I was gonna go to bed but then the pound just hit $1.33

.........

You reckon we can hit $1.25 by 9am when the London Stock Exchange opens? I'd be surprised if we didn't.

And she's drawn the battle lines. "The United Kingdom has made a decision against the wishes of Scotland and will have to live with the consequences"

As Alex Salmond said just 14 months ago, the Scottish Lion has roared.

It's pretty much impossible to watch any more of this. It's going to be a depressing few days watching all this play out/the hideous gloating from leave.

We can expect to see a smug smiley Nigel Farage a lot over the next few weeks :drama:

So it feels like this is going to be the end of the UK as well as the end of our stay in the EU.

The worst thing is if we have another general election I can genuinely see the smug c**t ending up as PM :manson:

Well, the worst thing is ALL of it really. Honestly so so gutted right now but the truly sad thing is, I'm not surprised :(

I can't believe we are actually leaving. This feels kind of surreal. And I wake up to discover Birmingham has voted to LEAVE as well! WHAT? :o At the start of the night they were predicting 55-60 for Remain here!
