1/10th of shares owned by workers: absolute lunacy that would result in companies shipping off out of the UK.

Where'd they go? Even under Lab plans they'd be paying the lowest corporate tax in Europe

And you missed a key part: capping rents BASED ON LOCAL SALARIES. It stops gentrification dead. No more new properties with a view over the historic Kenny's house!

0 hour contracts are vile. They need banning. Say no to the Tory gig economy!!!

Corporation tax is 12.5% in the Republic of Ireland. Are Labour planning to reduce the UK's 19% corporation tax further, because as far as I remember in 2017 their plan was to increase it to 25%.

So they could relocate to a country with a population of 6 million instead of 60? I see.
And yet aa long as it remains in the EU, the UK will remain a much more attractive location to businesses. Supply chains, larger workforce, bigger populatiom by a factor og 10, more wealth and infrastructure, etc, etc. Business will stay. The neoliberals always use that tired excuse to try and keep us in line.

Re zero hours contracts I only ever see very flimsy arguments for keeping them which tends to come down to 'X person (who works for pleasure and doesn't need to to afford to live) can pick and choose their hours on a ZHC and if they get fired or lose hours as a result well its not a problem for them because they didn't need to work anyway'.

Now I don't know about you but I don't think we should be basing the ratiomale behind keeping a kind of contract that keeps people who actually need money constantly in the red, on how handy it is for people who deliberately want to work around doing other things for extra money they don't actually need. In my book those people should be volunteering if they're just bored and idle.

A reminder that I will spike any insults directed at myself, regardless of how poorly spelled they are, although intelligent critique is of course welcome.

As I said before, I am happy with zero hour contracts and other gig economy jobs being made available for those that want them, as long as they are well regulated and offer the benefits of regular jobs (holiday pay, sick leave etc), as well as making it so employers can only offer zero hour contracts to those who want to work them (with those who don't still being offered the opportunity for a regular contract). Which unfortunately, at the moment, are not in place.

And in practice, that neoliberal fantasy would never work and people would be forced to sign for zero hours or not get the job  Ban them.

Tom Watson's speech to Conference has been cancelled as he's on a train back to London "to hold the law-breaking PM account" in the Commons which will sit tomorrow.

The Tory conference goes ahead next week as planned.

How dare Corbyn lay in to Boris like he is doing. Let's see who's laughing after the election Jeremy. Not you. Resign now for the sake of your party.

He's the Leader of the Opposition. The PM has been found to have broken the law. What do you expect Corbyn to do? Say "Jolly good show, Boris. Well done old chap"? What would you expect a Tory leader to do if a Labour PM had broken the law?

Absolutely the job of an opposition leader to put their opponent up against it when they've just suffered a major political defeat and not just that, a major legal defeat. Especially also focusing on the threat of Trump.

Hearing Corbyn speak directly is always better than hearing his message diluted through the media, he's a great rhetorician and would be PM already with a media not rabidly opposed to him.

STOP. TROLLING!!!!!!!!!

BOJO NEEDS TO f***ING RESIGN. THAT'S ALL.

He sHoUlD ReSiGn AS hE's DeStRoyInG My FlOpPY HaiREd EtON MaSTer DERRRP DERRRRP DERRRRP.

So Labour will abolish ALL prescription charges. Good news.

Simmer down they're only proposing to bring England into line with the rest of the UK.

Riiight - let's throw money at it, probably - that's Red Corbyn's answer to anything...

I fail to see how 'throwing money' at the body responsible for oversight of, and enforcing standards in, our education system is a bad thing???

Even for you this is a wildly shit take.

Hasn't stopped every Silicon Valley tech company doing it.
All they do in Ireland is a barely legal form of money laundering by funnelling profits from their non-US subsidiaries through an Irish principle via some questionable tax planning practices to benefit from a lower tax rate than they would be charged for repatriating the profits to the US. The US has a very specific tax rate on repatriated profits from overseas subs that mean major US companies all have some form of offshore holding pen for these dodgy tax practices.

This arrangement only takes place because of the peculiarities of US Tax, it's not a charge replicated in any other major economy which is why you only see US firms setting up shop in Ireland like this. Your comparison is invalid at best.

 'Throwing money at it'? I thought Labour proposed *abolishing* OFSTED?

And raising billions and forcing even the Tories to invest in the state eeucation sector by banning private schools :cheer:

Not that. He attacked it and contradicted it on multiple, multiple occasions.

And yet like Iz said, socialism is wildly popular and so are Corbyn's policies when stripped of their names. The only reason why the country is what it is? The extreme right media. They pushed the Overton window AND WILL KEEP PUSHING. What's right now will be left soon.
