July 24, 20179 yr So it looks like The Vamps will break the record of the biggest drop from number 1, the 28 place drop of 'Bionic' by Christina Aguilera to #29 in June 2010, given the Night Edition of 'Night & Day' is just about hanging on in the Top 100 best sellers on iTunes (and it is back to £9.99 having been reduced earlier in the week to £6.99). Really think they needed better promo this week. I can understand the argument about not caring so much this week because they got their number 1 but properly managed Release campaigns try and maintain some sort of momentum.

The standard version is still £6.99 and the deluxe version is £9.99. I guess the fact the 4 CD bundles were available for £20-25 in release week means the sales were heavily inflated with their core fans contributing 4 sales each - I still think it could stabilize even though the drop will still be huge. The Warner Bros-signed band's debut studio LP Hybrid Theory has rocketed from No.154 to a new peak of No.3 in the midweek albums chart on sales of 8,582. Released in 2000, it is certified 5x platinum in the UK, having sold 1,591,531 units to date, according to the Official Charts Company, but previously peaked at No.4. Their most recent album One More Light, which charted at No.4 on its release in May, has catapulted No.189 to No.5 after selling 5,901 copies; 2003's Meteora is a new entry at No.7 and 2007's Minutes To Midnight is straight in at No.12. There are also chart appearances for A Thousand Suns (No.37); Living Things (No.40); Reanimation (No.69); The Hunting Party (No.77), Road To Revolution: Live At Milton Keynes (No.106) and Recharged (118). Collision Course, the band's 2004 collaboration with Jay Z, is at No.30. It is a similar story in the single charts where In The End, a No.8 hit back in the early 2000s, leaps to No.9 with 10,500 sales. July 24, 20179 yr I'm intrigued to see how well Declan McKenna's album will do. I'd like to think it could go Top 10, but then again I thought that Will Joseph Cook would challenge for at least Top 20 and yet it failed to even go Top 100 so what do I know :unsure: Well, I've heard of Declan McKenna and the only thing I know about Will Joseph Cook is that people on here thought he'd be successful and I'd never heard of him. So... I guess that means McKenna has been promoted to a wider audience? There's a poster for his album at my local Tube station.
July 24, 20179 yr Poor The Vamps...although I saw it coming. I've asked for 'Night and Day' for my birthday next month so I won't get it until then. It really is 2007 all over again, only replace McFly with them and Girls Aloud with Little Mix as being the last real pop groups standing.

July 24, 20179 yr The full MW update shows that 'What I've Done', 'One Step Closer' and 'Heavy' have all sold enough to make the midweek Top 40 but are starred out to show they're ineligible to chart.
