@MNEK: guys what do you do when youve come back from a date to find out that Labrinth was singing your song on X Factor instead of you? cos rn idk

I'd be pissed!

There's no way that Stormzy was ever going to perform songs like Big For Your Boots, Shut Up or WickedSkengMan 4 on the X Factor though, the housewives and OAPs would be in meltdown!, it was going to have to be a much softer and family friendly song and Blinded By Your Grace was the standout and obvious choice. MNEK should have used his initiative and been more pro-active by contacting Stormzy and asking him if he could perform on stage with him once it was announced that Stormzy would appear on the X Factor.

No, they often make it up to save any embarrassment for acts calling in to the show. They have done it on the past for many a failed pop act

That was what I first thought when I saw that he was #10 on their chart

Why should MNEK have to contact Stormzy about it though? He co-wrote the song and features on it so it seems logical that he’d be part of the performance, rather than them getting in someone else to sing his part.

Really hoping Havana can make #1 this week!

It won't be down to MNEK to contact Stormzy  It'll be down to management to arrange it all and obviously they didn't get in contact with MNEK's because Simon wants to make Labrinth relevant again.

According to Stormzy on the radio this morning, the reason MNEK didn't appear was all down to a "misunderstanding" on his (Stormzy's) part and he's apologised to MNEK about it. You're right though, it should have been up to management to make the necessary calls and arrangements, and they should have at the very least let MNEK know that someone else is performing his part. I'd be fuming if it was me

The point I'm trying to make is that it was so obvious that it was that song that was going to be performed on X Factor and by the tone of MNEK's tweet it sounded like he didn't know/think that it was going to be Blinded By Your Grace that would get performed. Instead of sitting on his arse waiting for the phone to ring he should have made more of an effort. Unless if that is what he actually did and he got rejected for some reason by Simon Cowell or whoever is in charge of these things.

Or his management should have made contact as some people have said above.

MNEK is a writer and performer himself, I doubt he sits about all day seeing if Stormzy will promote on X Factor or not  It's entirely possible he didn't know Stormzy was performing until last night and I'd be pissed off too to have not even been asked.
Regardless of the drama, the song is one of my favourites on the album and I really hope it's a success.
Reading their website it sounds like they've totally scrapped the 'live iTunes Top 10 aspect'. It just says it based on iTunes downloads, Apple Music streams (No Spotify ) and airplay from their stations.

Understandable that they changed that - it used to be all about "you can change the chart by downloading these songs now" but of course so few people are downloading now.

But the chart looks very odd now. It still looks to be more based on sales than streams - but the success of some records cannot be explained. How is Matt Terry at #14 this week?

My guess is Cowell would want to promote Labrinth as he is signed to his label.

Yup. Hence why he had that new girl band perform Labrinth's latest single at judges houses

How come Imelda May is #40 with 'Should've Been You'? :o

She performed it with Ball and Boe on ITV last night.

Thanks! I figured it must have been some televised promo but couldn't see anything regarding X Factor, Strictly etc.

Hopefully we get some sales info on the x factor acts if they ain't eligible it would still be interesting to see where they could have charted
Could Imelda May get a possible top 100 entry in the singles for the very first time? I would believe her album will make a strong chart return too this week.

Rak-Su might overtake Grace, they're increasing much more quickly at the moment! (Although that could just be because they performed it a day later)

Stormzy up to #7, can see this becoming his highest peaking single. Not really as big a fan of this as I was of 'Shut Up' and 'Big For Your Boots' but it's great to see him doing so well nonetheless.

Stormzy at #7 but technically, he’s #5 seeing as the X Factor performances are ineligible to chart
