November 28, 20178 yr I don't want Wham! to be Christmas #1 just because I kinda like it having the 'biggest selling song not to get to #1' record.
November 28, 20178 yr Author What is the lowesr ever sales for a Christmas no1 single and album? It wouldn’t surprise me if both statistics are achieved this year. I think I remember reading Robbie Williams & Nicole Kidman had the lowest Christmas no1 single in last 10-15 years but they still sold about 90k and recent single sales have been well below those levels for quite some time and can’t see them recovering much with such a paltry pre-Christmas release schedule this year! Clean Bandit had 57,361 chart sales to get last year's Christmas number one single and the #1 album (Ball & Boe) sold 109,708 - the lowest in recent memory if not ever for both.
November 28, 20178 yr Jumping a few weeks ahead here but Radio 1 have released their provisional schedule for Christmas and the New Year. On Friday 29 December the chart show will be a countdown of the best selling singles of 2017. The chart will be at its usual time of 4pm. From what I can see the programme runs to 7pm - did this also happen last year (30/12/16)?
November 29, 20178 yr I don't want Wham! to be Christmas #1 just because I kinda like it having the 'biggest selling song not to get to #1' record. I'm sure I read that John Legend has taken that record from them now. Or was I dreaming?
November 29, 20178 yr I'm sure I read that John Legend has taken that record from them now. Or was I dreaming? Nope. If “Last Christmas” gets Xmas #1, “Moves Like Jagger” will become the best selling non #1 in the UK

November 29, 20178 yr Where did you see this? I'd be quite interested to have a look. It's in a thread at DigitalSpy. Like many other broadcasters the BBC normally release a provisional Christmas schedule for all its TV channels and radio stations near the end of November. https://forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/22...istmas-schedule
