100% opposite for me, loved the 20/20 albums and the Timbaland production, Mirrors is his best song ever

on the other hand, Can't Stop This Feeling was too pop, too Max Martin, not enough Justin

Mirrors is my favourite of his too, it’s probably one of my favourite all time songs tbh. Can’t Stop The Feeling was too pop - but it was purposely too pop for the movie it was created for. I liked it and it had great chart longevity all over the world, so I hope his new single is just as successful.

I think whatever he releases will be big, but it needs to be streaming friendly.

I mean I did quite like Suit & Tie, but Mirrors basically propelled his last era for Part 1. And the less said about Part 2 the better really! Futuresex/Lovesounds is still one of the best albums of this century though.

i personally loved 'CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!', so i'd be here for another bop in the same vein as that. to be frank, anything is welcome as long as it isn't blatantly trend chasing or trap influenced.

Good lad! It was a brilliantly simple, catchy pop song.

  • 2 weeks later...

I posted this in the album thread, but I'll post here just in case it turns out to be the official first single (which I imagine it would be?)

I assume we will be getting 4 instant grats (one a week) he just posted on Twitter the caption "1 of 4"

With an image that reads...

"This is a song called...

FILTHY by Justin Timberlake

This song should be played VERY LOUD"

I wonder if that will be the official first single?

The thing is I think 'My Love' actually did sound a bit electronic trappy with the drop. Ahead of its time I think.

Glad to hear he is still working with Timbaland, their work together is always fab. Looking forward to this!
Justin Timberlake will probably be number one for about 13 weeks with this. It's being released at the same stage of the year as Shape Of You from last year which bodes well for this track.
Well even though I expect the album to be slightly more country urban, I expect this will be heavily pop-urban (Max Martin was involved in this right?). Sounds just like the type of big song we need to kick 2018 off much like Shape of You.
that title doesn't exactly inspire hope, gives me Liam Payne trying desperately hard to be sexy with mildly explicit song titles and covers teas. i just want to hear the utter banger of life from the preview trailer lmao
I'm really looking forward to this, just hoping it lives up to former glories as I really like most of his singles in retrospect.

JT started this - he released an album called Futuresex/Lovesounds!

This is a Timbaland track :D

Timbaland tweeted: (with the same 'Filthy' pic Justin posted)

TIMBERLAKE X TIMBALAND. Thursday, Midnight ET. @jtimberlake
SO hyped for this! Revisiting some Timbaland produced JT songs through the Now! That's What I Call Music sessions on plug.dj resulted in me rediscovering how much of a dream team the two of them are together. Pleeeeease be good!

So urban country is a genre and not just a sarcastic joke made to me by Regina when I foolishly wondered if the album would be urban without reading the rest of the thread and seeing the hints it would be country! :o

Looking forward to Filthy anyway. Really really liked My Love at the time and it was produced by Timbaland and hopefully he hasn't changed his production style too much.

You want it to sound like it came from 12 years ago?

Looks like the video will be dropping too then! :o

The clip gives absolutely zilch away lol. But I'm so pumped!
