I loved the movie and This is me potentially smashing could snowball everything into The Greatest Showman being a Grease type movie.

It would be great to have a new musical with songs that everyone recognises.

You do raise an interesting point - what was the last musical in which a large amount of the songs from it have fully seeped into the public consciousness? "Frozen" could be a contender for that title, if you consider it a musical.

Yeah probably 'Frozen'. Before that I'd imagine it was probably 'The Lion King'? Unless there's something really obvious that I've missed haha. There have of course been musicals since, but none in which the bulk of the soundtrack made their way into the public conscience quite the same way that Grease, The Bodyguard, The Lion King or Frozen have. Obviously there is Mamma Mia, but they were already well known pop smashes.

How could you forget the legendary High School Musical? *_*

Does Les Miserables count? Obviously based on a theatre show that had been running for years but it was what everyone was talking about this time five years ago, comparing the movie songs to the originals etc. Also got a huge audience who'd never even seen the stage version before.

A Wicked movie is scheduled for Christmas 2019, expect total chart domination from that surely.

Oh yeah. HSM. Forgot about that. 'Les Miserables' is a hard one, for similar reasons to Mamma Mia really (people were well aware of the songs before the movie came out etc..)

I don't really know anything about musicals, but how about 'Hamilton'? Not sure if it's popular in the UK, but the cast album has been top 10 year-end in the US in both of the last 2 years.

If 'Frozen' counts as a musical, maybe 'Moana' too?

Does pitch perfect count ?

Trolls and moana albums finished in top 30 year end album charts

I know its a TV show but glee was all over iTunes in the first few seasons Nashville and empire maybe had a couple scrape

Is that the "new" track that Bruno was supposed to be releasing? Just a remix of a track off his last album? Or does he have a proper new release out tomorrow?

The Vaccines and BØRNS & Lana Del Rey are both decent!

yes the finesse remix is the new bruno :/

Always loved "Finesse" on the album and the remix works really well too! Much better than I thought.

The video for the remix is great as well and gives such strong 90s nostalgia for anyone interested:

Looks like Bruno won't be challenging JT for #1 next week :D
