Whatever about having her opinion, the "I expected better from you" was an unnessecary comment to a fellow DJ.

I don't think it has anything to do with the impartiality rules, I think they're allowed to praise songs they like but not complain about ones that they don't.

It was why I put 'level' in apostrophes like that as they often cheer on and champion tracks but they're not allowed to say they hate something. Nonetheless it'll be because she was drunk and interrupted Charlie's show which will be why she's off air

She has also failed to turn up on time for her 4am start several times lately. Won't get a new contract.

Isn’t she usually on at 5am?

I thought she sounded quite playful/in jest when she said that part. Unprofessional or not, let’s not blow this up into something it isn’t and assassinate Arielle’s character.

Well I imagine you have to be there earlier than 5am no?

I think (don't quote me on this) that she does start at 4am to record the Radio 1 Dance show each day that then gets repeated on the dance stream. I've wondered if it's live when it goes out at 4am, I assume so because cover DJs and the Friday rotation do that show too when she's not about. It's a very early start but nonetheless she's not doing that show ATM it's Sam and Danni.

Radio 1 has a long history of presenters slagging off the records, Mark and Lard were renowned for it and Greg and Scott have done it loads of times (admittedly the last two mainly did it when it was a long-established, normally American act that wasn't particularly reliant on Radio 1 and whose team weren't working very closely with the station). Can imagine someone getting away with slagging off a Drake song on-air but not a Holly Humberstone one for example.

Admittedly, those presenters weren't intoxicated in those situations but it was Ibiza, what do they think the DJs are doing when they're not on air, crosswords?

Then again, I'm 40 anyway and probably shouldn't be listening so what do I know. It's Lisa I'Anson 2023 #showingmyagethere #notreallyanywhereelsetogoforawiderangeofnewmusicandfunchat

The comments from unbearably smug, snooty and self-satisfied social media nincompoops along the lines of "Radio 1 is still going? Huhuhuhuhuhuhuh" regarding this story have really got on my wick btw. Then again, I bet a lot of them feel too old for even Radio 2 now.

Jordan North and Katie Thistleton on Breakfast this week. The first time they've had someone other than Matt in for quite some time so it'll be an interesting dynamic to put out that early but I'm sure they'll smash it.

Jamie Laing is also back this week covering for Jordan with Vick Hope.

Arielle supposedly back tomorrow, doing Radio 1 Relax and Dance Anthems Mon and Tue respectively for Scottish exam results.

Slipknot fans will be happy as Corey Taylor returns to The Rock Show tomorrow but flying solo this time!

'Radio 1 10s' is also launching over the August Bank Holiday
