Best you can hope for is that some presenters pick it up and give it some spot plays, but there is almost zero chance of them playlisting it even if it gets Number 1.

With regards to Royal Blood, they should have tried to interact with the crowd better if they felt they had a luke warm reception. I guess they couldn't accept being on the same bill as Niall Horan and Lewis Capaldi.

Being slotted in between Niall and Lewis was a huge boo-boo on the part of the organisers but even so, their attitude stank and he came across as a pompous twat tbh. I doubt it will do much damage to their brand though, that's just rock star behaviour.

I'd say almost certainly no chance, unless it becomes such a big hit that it's impossible to ignore - but let's be realistic, that's probably not going to happen no matter how much we're all willing it to! I'm just happy that she's going to get a top 20 hit in 2023 :D

Radio 1 can and do ignore massive hits ('I Ain't Worried' being a recent example), I really don't get why people keep making this argument. I'm sure chart success is an element in their decision making process but if they are set on certain songs/artists not being relevant to their demographic then no amount of chart success is going to 'force' them to playlist it.

They have literally zero top 40 hits so I don’t know why they expected everyone to know everything about them. Hopefully that’s the last Radio 1 will have to do with them

Well tbf they're at a Radio 1 festival, and Radio 1 have heavily supported them for years. Plus they have 3 #1 albums.

I see their new song has already been instantly A-Listed so unless that was a decision made before Big Weekend gate and it gets dropped after one week, looks like R1 are not letting up on their support.

Yeah, completely agree with that but on the other hand there are the occasional songs that they do get seemingly 'forced' into playing e.g. 'Savage Love' - they definitely only playlisted that because it exploded and even then they begrudgingly only kept it on the B-list for a few weeks, as they were otherwise pretty much done with Jason Derulo by that point. So it could still go either way, although of course this is really all a bit of a moot point because I can't realistically see 'Padam Padam' becoming either a 'Savage Love' or 'I Ain't Worried' sized hit.

The only way Kylie would be playlisted is as a feature at this stage. Artists like Derulo can go either way mainly because their support has been stop start over the years and not continuously in terms of eras.

With regards to Royal Blood yeh they were being dicks but it’s not really anything to do with their lack of top 40 hits of why they get support it’s their album and gig popularity hence why it was a stupid thing to do. But who knows what was happening behind the scenes.

If Royal Blood had been announced straight away then they would have got their true fans in numbers, not wait until it was already sold out.
So this is doing the rounds on Twitter tonight following Royal Blood's performance yesterday. I didn't see it at the time but what a shitty reaction to a gig. Some crowds might be "mild" these days but don't be disrespectful to them.

So shockingly rude. I couldn't believe it when I saw this video.

Love this article about the situation though... https://inews.co.uk/culture/music/royal-blo...udience-2374732

Radio 1 will be at Download Festival this weekend.

On Friday June 9th and Saturday June 10th Daniel P Carter, Jack Saunders, Alyx Holcombe and Nels Hylton will be on air until 12pm-2pm. On Sunday June 11th, Jack's show 9pm-11pm has been replaced with a Download special featuring the same presenters.

Jordan North will cover the Chart Show in Jack's absence.

Padam Padam added to Radio 1. The first single since Get Outta My Way. And she didn't need to piggyback on a younger artist to do it.

OMG KELLY CLARKSON FEAT. STEVE MARTIN - I HATE LOVE STRAIGHT TO RADIO 1 A-LIST!!!!

Weird that it’s “TBC” though and alphabetised as Steve as the lead but WW #1 on it’s way!!!!!

:kink:

Srs tho… I wonder if we are getting a single mix of Cruel Summer that they’ll be adding?
