They are using the same set of songs they played yesterday.

Yes I have heard Beyoncé Halo about 5 times since yesterday morning. It's like they've raided the Chillout Anthems playlist and gone this'll do for now

Same could be said for Mirrors, Diamonds, Loud Places, Hey Now, and probably some others I'm forgetting. They've probably played Cornerstone by Arctic Monkeys and This Town by Niall Horan more in the last 24 hours than the last year

The Radio 1 Dance output has been phenomenal. I'm really surprised they don't already have just a chillout show for dance music. The Wind Down really doesn't cut it as it's just mixes.
I heard one of my old BJSC entries on Radio 1 earlier :cheeseblock: (Azari & III - Reckless (With Your Love), not sure if that gets played too often? Tbf I did originally discover it from Radio 1 lol but it was a nighttime show)
A somewhat regular playlist has been implemented today with a few chilled tracks still thrown in. Took me by surprise hearing the likes of Super Freaky Girl, B.O.T.A. and Hot In It

I think the schedule for Live Lounge Month has been reshuffled a bit following the Queen’s passing. Sam Smith is on Thursday, and they’re not on the original lineup so I presume they are one of the ‘very special guests’.

There will be 29 new presenters on BBC Radio 1 this Christmas in addition to a TikTok Takeover on Christmas Day.

Ten TikTok’ers will host half an hour each between 2pm and 6pm.

This is in addition to the station’s annual Christmas Presenter initiative from Boxing Day to New Year’s Day 2023

Fats Timbo, Watson D.Hirschfield, Anastasia Kingsnorth, Chewkz, George and Joe Baggs, Maddie Grace Jepson, Kyron Hamilton, Madeline Argy, Max Fosh and Max Balegde will take to the airwaves.

Radio 1’s TikTok Takeover schedule:

2pm – Maddie Grace Jepson and Kyron Hamilton

2.30pm – Max Fosh

3pm – Anastasia Kingsnorth

3.30pm – George and Joe Baggs

Then, from Boxing Day until New Year’s Day, the station will be showcasing new and emerging talent by giving new DJs and presenters a once in a lifetime opportunity to host a show on Radio 1.

This year includes an array of talent, many of whom began their presenting journeys in student, local, community or hospital radio including; Issra Wiheba who presents the daily Drivetime show on London-based community station Westside, Angelle Joseph from BBC Radio Suffolk and Roesh from BBC Radio Manchester.

Also among the new presenters is partially sighted Chrissy Cameron, who was crowned ‘Best Presenter’ at this year’s Student Radio Awards. Chrissy currently presents on Spark Sunderland and will be taking over Radio 1’s iconic Future Sounds show.

Others include, 23-year-old Betty Douglas who has a blog where she discusses everything from her physical disability to love and relationships; and 22-year-old Bisola Otun who hosts her own YouTube show ‘Hood Veganism’.

And 27-year-old Jodie Bryant from Kingston, daughter of Nation Broadcasting’s Jason Bryant.

Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1, says: “Over the past few years Radio 1 has been dedicated to providing a platform for some of the UK’s most exciting, undiscovered radio presenters. I’m thrilled that this year we’re also able to make some room for new and emerging social media talent as I know our young audiences would love to hear a different side to their online heroes. I can’t wait to tune in over the festive period and hear how everyone does!”

Radio 1’s Christmas Takeover launched in 2019 as an initiative created by Head of BBC Radio 1, Aled Haydn Jones. To date, eight of the former guest presenters have landed permanent slots on Radio 1, most recently with Dean McCullough and Vicky Hawkesworth – from the 2020 search – being announced as the new presenters of the iconic afternoon 1pm – 3.30pm show.

I love TikTok as much as the next person but that on Christmas Day is an absolute no go thank you.

I'm always keen to see who they get to do the more specialist shows, especially the later night ones (Annie, Benji etc) as there's some fab talent

The Boxing Day to New Year’s Day period on radio 1 is crap anyway!

Time for the annual look at the most played songs of 2022 for those with interest of what got played and how much they got played. All the information that I have included has come from the BBC Radio 1 Last.fm page which is avaliable online. The infomation takes all tracks played during the daytime period and nighttime periods and as well as songs played on simulcasts of 1Xtra shows and any repeat shows that were broadcast. As always there may be some missing or incorrect data as some plays may have not been recorded due to failures with the scrobles but the data below will give a mostly clear idea as to which tracks was played the most in 2022. Some songs scrobles are combined and don't reflect the original figures on Last.fm but are used to get a more accurate representation of how many times a song is played, I have listed where I combined figures and these combined figures include versions of a song that went down as a seperate track that wasn't supposed to, variations of song that are similar and any live performances that were played out of a song. Combined figures don't include dance remixes unless they were used as an official version that was pushed. Also inlcuded is the most played songs for each month, the most played artists of 2022 and them by month.

Diplo and Chase & Status getting plays above their chart popularity but Diplo was in the b/a list for ages! Also thought WetLeg would be higher as they’ve given them a lot of support this year!

Edited by Christmasteve201

LF SYSTEM at #1 definitely seems about right - wow at how big of a lead it has though!

Lorde sneaking as joint top artist in June :cheeseblock:
