Wow what an end of an era! Scott has been a massive part of my life in listening to Radio 1. He seems at home on Radio 2 too so that'll be nice to still hear him. Scott's show on Radio 2 will be 2-4pm with Sara Cox's show extended by an hour earlier (4-7pm).

 

I wonder who will get the chart show slot and who will be replacing them on daytime. My money is on Katie Thistleton.

Sad to see, I really like Scott! Interesting to see who will get the job of doing the chart permanently now? Maybe Jack?

Feels very weird as he's always been a part of the Radio 1 furniture really but I'm happy for them. Maybe I can listen to a afternoon show on R2 without hearing a dj talk over songs all the time half way through.

 

I presume Steve Wright is leaving Radio 2 permanently too then.

No he’s continuing with Sunday Love Songs and specials on bank holidays etc

Hope Arielle Free replaces Scott as afternoon host. Katie Thistleton with maybe a co-host I can see doing the chart show.

So sad to hear Scott go, can’t believe I won’t hear him on Christmas morning anymore.

 

He was like an old skool R1 dj who survived longer than a lot of the others because of his wit and love of pop music. Sad to see Steve Wright not doing the daytime show, really enjoyed that while working from home during the pandemic. An old skool TOTP presenter too!

Don't mind Scott, but i feel even though he's 49 he's still good enough for Radio 1 i mean they already have an 80 year old woman doing the chill out zone

and John Peel was there until 65 and probably would have lasted long if he hadn't died yeah they're specialist djs but Scott Mills was still good enough

Think Scott was great on the chart show and he guest hosted in the "UK Top 40" era too still miss that format.

 

Gonna miss Steve Wright In The Afternoon though, at least still got Sunday Love Songs

I know he's sticking with Radio 2 but i could see him on Greatest Hits Radio who seem to get Radio 2 Djs

Jack Saunders has done a decent job when covering the chart show so I'd be happy to see him get the gig full-time. Please don't let it be Katie Thistleton.

I've managed to fully convince myself Jack is going to daytime, at least if only for the chart. Has expressed an interest in doing more mainstream stuff on several occasions and has of course been sitting on the chart a lot recently.

But I'm really going to miss Scott being fully in the contemporary music and bantz zone, he's sounded a bit safe on Radio 2 sitting in so far but that could of course just be because it wasn't his name above the door. Hope Chris can join him at some point. Together they have given me some of the finest and most euphoric afternoons of my life over recent years and really picked me up when I was down, especially during my separation. I knew yesterday was coming though and he had a very, very, very good run! It was marvellous to get on The Who Game a couple of years ago and have had a host of shout-outs and liked tweets from the both of them!

Still no word on who will replace Scott on the chart show.

 

The recent 00's day must have had big positive feedback and now becomes a weekly show.

 

So pleased Vicky has now got a regular show.

Radio 1 Ibiza weekend is happening 4th-6th August. Provisionally there's some stuff in the schedule with Arielle Free doing Dance Anthems on Saturday; Benji B and Sian Eleri presenting an extended Radio 1 Relax show on the Sunday from 7pm.

 

It would seem Charlie Hedges' last show before going on maternity leave is on 30th July as Rickie and Melvin are on their own from 1st August.

 

Signs pointing strongly at Jack Saunders taking over the chart show, but yet to have an official announcement.

It’ll probably be nothing much, but today’s hottest record is being billed as ‘a BIG surprise’…

Rihanna dropping new music so soon after dropping a baby? Can't see it. Hopefully it's someone exciting though!

I’ve seen quite a few people suggest Arctic Monkeys online and apparently Clara mentioned something about them the other day too - that seems like it would fit!

It would sound about right for them to surprise drop out of nowhere! Especially as they have festivals coming up very very soon.
