October 16, 20186 yr I can't at them not sending Rahul home :') Manon didn't exactly do brilliantly, but the critique seemed a lot less harsh, and all three of Rahul's were disastrous. Ruby getting star baker though
October 16, 20186 yr Manon has been clinging on for some time. I think if it were any of the other three battling with Rahul then he'd have gone instead
October 16, 20186 yr Kim-Joy when she was getting judged though was really sad :/ Bryony and KJ better make the final
October 16, 20186 yr Manon has been clinging on for some time. I think if it were any of the other three battling with Rahul then he'd have gone instead Agreed; she's been crap for 3 weeks now and whilst Rahul failed - he failed doing Danish cooking. Manon failed doing French cooking, which wasn't even the brief
October 16, 20186 yr It should be about THAT week, it has nothing to do with Manon not being great the past couple of times. Manon was better than him on both the first challenges and ik her showstopper was disastrous too but I'd have thought "ok but French", not so great and then disastrous was better than 3x disastrous... I get that it was close, both had bad weeks, but it's SO frustrating that finally Rahul does something wrong and they chuck someone else :drama: I bet he wins now, I'd be elated with any of the other 3 who have been pretty much my top 3 since the start! (why am I so mad at a show about baking lmaooo ffs)
October 16, 20186 yr I don't see how there was much between them. Manon basically did two of them wrong - may have been better bakes but the wrong thing, French bread, French pastry. Rahul went wrong doing what he was supposed to. Manon didn't do loads better doing what she wasn't supposed to. Both were shockingly bad, one hasn't been good for weeks.
October 16, 20186 yr But usually they base their decisions on each theme week, I know Manon struggled but I really thought Rahul should have gone instead of her. I wouldn't be surprised it be all over the papers tomorrow  Manon was robbed

Manon's may well have been better bakes, but that's not the point if you make the wrong thing. There may have been a reluctance to eliminate Rahul because he has been so good so far, but they still had good reason to send Manon hime. If doing the wrong thing brilliantly is enough to keep you in, I'll enter next year and do a brilliant beans on toast for every challenge.

Their heads will explode just thinking about it.
October 16, 20186 yr Well, I figured people on here would be thrilled at that :P they were basically neck and neck going by the comments so I think it could've gone either way, but Manon seemed to both get the baking wrong and make something that doesn't fill the brief so I think that's a fair decision (though having just been acquainted with Danish cuisine on my recent trip, I was more offended by Briony's Smørrebrød, that bread was not right!!1), I will miss her wonderful French accent and general hotness though :( I just really want Kim Joy through to the final, her reaction to her showstopper made me sad </3

We'll still get to hear her accent on Extra Slice on Friday.
October 17, 20186 yr People are being unrealistic if they think it’s based purely by week. For the most part, sure, but Rahul has been amongst the best since the beginning and Manon has been poor for three weeks... He was clearly terrible but she wasn’t exactly robbed. She struggled to make French pastries during a Danish pastry week? She burnt her showstopper? If he had been against Ruby or Kim-Joy, who have also been consistent for weeks now, then he would have probably left. I feel the issue is more that Manon is likeable and Rahul isn’t. I doubt the reaction would be the same if Kim-Joy had a similarly terrible week and stayed. Edited October 17, 20186 yr by blacksquare
October 18, 20186 yr Author I'm sure the judges always ty to judge it purely on what happened that week However, they are both human, so it wouldn't be surprising if past performance sometimes plays a part. And, let's face it, viewers who allow the contestants' personalities to cloud their judgement (although, of course, we cannot judge the taste of the bakes) are straying much further away from the judges' brief.
October 18, 20186 yr I’m well irritated that Rahul stayed. All three of his were walking disasters and let’s not forget he burned two of the three!!! Nah fam. Should have been flushed. I reckon they want him to win tho so he got to stay for that reason

I reckon they want him to win tho so he got to stay for that reason You seem to be overlooking the fact that Manon twice baked the wrong thing. Therefore, if the judges awarded marks out of ten for each challenge, Manon could easily have scored two zeroes against Rahul's scores of one or two.
October 18, 20186 yr No matter who it was I'd have felt it was unfair. At least Manon's technical was a bit better plus they at least said her signature was nice, Rahul's was barely palatable or edible in any of the 3 cases  I suppose it depends if they wanted to overlook Manon making the wrong thing but being a bit nicer, I think I'd rather that than three unmitigated disasters. As for judging by personality, of course we do?! We can't reach in and taste the bakes so naturally we are going to prefer to watch those we find likeable, rather than Rahul giving the same old crap each week and whining about it. It's very frustrating that the one time he messed up, Manon was thrown instead, that's all. Perhaps it's cynical it just feels very convenient that it was Rahul and I'm unsure it would have been the same had it been Manon doing his bakes and Rahul doing hers. It shouldn't have come down to his past record, it never really has before (Dan for example this series had one terrible week and he was gone), although for two of them to do so badly this close to the final is new territory. I know everyone is allowed a bad week or two, but it would be pretty shit if he won now when he was very very lucky to not go home this week. Off the top of my head that has to be the worst week for someone who stayed d this close to the final.... I hate to be so cynical about what's usually such an easy happy show but it really feels like they've already chosen him to win and that plays a part, we can only hope he does a Richard in the final. Bryony or Kim-Joy would be such brilliant winners <3
October 18, 20186 yr Author Look at it like an exam question. Let's say there is a question on the French Revolution. One candidate writs an essay about the French Revolution that gets the dates right but is, otherwise, pretty rubbish. The other candidate's essay is better (although not great), but it is about the Russian Revolution. Which one deserves the higher marks?
