Just lost my 3 pointer in Suedeonia // SAINT MOTEL - 1997 and my 1 pointer Bøtanikkä // Mo-Do - Eins, Zwei, Polizei. Bit surprised about the latter - I'm also surprised about one of my votes making it through tho :kink:

Just caught up, absolutely gutted to see Eins, Zwei, Polizei out from semi 1 after coming so close :( Would definitely have received high points from me in the final.

 

Also sorry that my one point ruined Bahrain Unite scoring zero, I didn't think I'd be the only person who would vote for it! It wasn't that bad though to be fair, particularly in that semi.

 

Thanks to those who voted for Escape, I'm a little surprised it made it!

 

And it's a shame to see Kuulta, Again, and Vale Vale DNQ, particularly for the last one as it brings Cor Lupus' incredible run to an end when it didn't really deserve to.

Oh I don't think Bahrain was THAT bad either tbf, it's misguided and a bit of an odd entry, but there was definitely worse in the semi! Ngl there's worse songs that qualified : whistle:

A 3 year streak is amazing but everyone's has to run out sometimes. There's no need to throw toys out of the pram over not qualifying, first and foremost this contest is about sharing the music and discovering it from others. If you're really only in it to do well EVERY time then that's sad.

"Gatekeeper Julie" is one of my favourite tracks at the moment. I thought I'd take a risk after such a good year and hoped it would be a great moment but turns out it was just too left-field for most people. Oh well!

 

I can put my full weight supporting my favourite track in the final now. :cheer:

I think my thinking with Bahrain Unite was that it was SO completely weird and random that it would have picked up a few more novelty points just for being something that let's face it isn't going to crop up again in the foreseeable future :P but oh well, rounding off my year with 7 DNQs but at least it wasn't 10.

ACKTUALLY Michael your song was very enjoyable and came 11th in my rankings, so it's a shame it missed out. So don't blame me, blame the voting system.

Me to the Lib Dems on 13th December after twice as many people vote for them as two years ago but they get the same number of seats.

Oh damn, not my lucky month.

I understand your frustration but you'll get over it, we're all been there. I remember in very early days when I first DNQ, I made a drama which 5 minutes later I regret it lol.

...and look at my initial run of 13 DNQ's (I think it was around about that) :lol: If you're going to fail make it an EPIC fail at least. I'm quite proud of that record! My first contest I also missed out on a draw - and I'd actually qualified it turned out according to the rules (too late). My toys are still firmly in my pram, I just rattle them about a bit occasionally for attention :lol:

1) I still hope that this is a joke and part of the necessary(?) drama that's Cody.

 

2) If it's not a joke, then some of the responses to the 'if you wanna convince me to stay'-drama make me really sad. These responses make me feel small and insignificant.

They make me feel that Cody is better and more deserving than some of us.

 

Guess what, the 'flop nations' don't like failing, either. I had some DNQs this year that made me shattered and bitter.

I got the 'bad news' 6 times this year (!). Should I quit? Should Riser and Coi quit? Or Pete with 7? Does anyone care? Noone really wants to convince us to stay.

I don't need convincing, btw. This is the game, there are winners and losers, Qs and DNQs , that's what we're signed up for.

 

So please, PLEASE stop convincing Cody of staying in BJSC after one DNQ, he's a big boy, he can decide if he wants to stay himself.

As now, after a Q (yay) I'm sitting here and I'm feeling shittier than after any of my DNQs. Thanks.

quite frankly it is petty and self-

absorbed to turn your first DNQ in years into such a big deal that it clouds the entire thread. totally lacking in self-awareness and incredibly self-pitying. as is with life not everything goes our way and it’s a testament to a person’s character how they deal with those highs and lows.

 

i’m very fortunate to have done well in this contest in the past year, i’ve had dnq’s in the past and a number of runner up positions (to the point of missing out by a single point) sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, that is life. doing well is a lovely feeling but what also makes this contest so great is the sharing and joy of music you would never otherwise encountered. those highs are made all the better than the DNQs and close misses.

 

this contest is the best thing about buzzjack and every nation plays a part in making the competition the great thing that it is.

Sorry, I know that I'm a 'bit' of a drama queen about this, had a shitty day.

Well that's an unpleasant surprise, all the predictions had me through and I thought it was a strong song for the contest, (still love it don't care x) can't seem to judge this contest recently.

 

Other than that only lost one of my votes though! Should be a good final.

I am calling for this entire edition of the contest to be cancelled due to the continued racism present throughout all levels of the competition! #BJSCSoWhite
