I have to be amused at the amount of online conservatives I've spied falling over themselves to claim that Trump is still involved in his mission against the deep state to defeat the tyrants of the political elite... by doing exactly what a wannabe tyrant would do.

At least he's pulled the Feds out of Portland for now, that incident was getting pretty scary to watch in a literal 'they are throwing journalists into the back of trucks' fashion.

Trump has floated the idea of postponing the election and has continued to claim (with his usual lack of anything resembling evidence) that postal voting will lead to widespread fraud (which, apparently, will only be committed by one party). Even Republicans have been quick to say that he doesn't have the power to postpone the election. Only Congress has that power although, as has been stated before, Trump's term ends on 20 January regardless of when the election is held.

He's only going to get more desperate from here — it's going to be an insane few months.

He's f***ed, no way he's getting back into power in November!

He could still win legitimately and, more likely, the election could still feature mass voter supression, uncounted and slowly counted mail-in ballots in tipping point states.

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives in Michigan, a key state, have in fact ruled that mail-in ballots may not be counted until after election day.

The thinking is that Trump will have a large lead on election night from in-person votes, since Republicans have been bombarded for months by the idea that mail-in voting is fraud, that will slowly be chipped away by counting of mail-in ballots. Of course, if Trump leads at some point then his camp are likely to claim premature victory and it will get very messy if a good chunk of the country don't accept the results.

Republicans slowing down the release of results is designed to deligitimise a potential Trump loss.

Basically all the crazy, messy, nonsense we've have for the last 3.5 years is a mere APPETISER for the full on BUFFET OF BULLSHIT Trump/the republicans are going to unleash to discredit every aspect of the voting process (that isn't rigged in their favour of course). It's quite chilling to watch it all slide so easily into (potential) oblivion.

Yes, it is pretty certain that the Republicans will be trying to get states to declare a result based purely on votes cast on the day. This election promises to make the 2000 contest look like a thoroughly competently-conducted election.

So to reiterate the previous post, there are three potential problems here:

1) Mail-in voters can't vote, particularly in Republican states.

2) Mail-in voters can vote but their ballots never get counted.

3) The ballots get counted but not soon enough for Trump to declare an election night victory.

Only a handful of states, all safe Democrat except for Utah, are used to conducting elections with widespread mail-in voting.

It is tempting to describe this as embarrassing for Trump but that would mean being far too kind to him. How can anyone consider the idea of another four years of this moron to be a good idea?

When I watched it this morning, I genuinely thought it was a spoof  Who signed off that interview?!?
I don’t think there’s much more that can be said that hasn’t already now. I’d be interested in Chris’ opinion following this though.

Omg how is this man even running as close to Biden as he is

Kamala Harris is picked as running mate for Biden :cheer:

I hope Biden-Harris is a winning ticket :prays:

He's chosen well.

Not really a surprise, the sensible choice for a number of reasons. I’m rather pleased though as Kamala was my preferred DEM in the running this time round.
I mean that pick makes sense but it seems to me this is at best a neutral pick strategically. If I were him I'd have at least gone for someone from a state that isn't going to be carried by the Dems by 30 percentage points regardless.
Kamala Harris, who attacked Joe Biden as a racist during the Democratic Primary. What a difference a few months makes.

A vote for the Democratic ticket is effectively a vote for the next two presidents, so Harris seemed like the likely choice.

That's all just show isn't it though, but it does give the Trump team an easy target to pick, but I am sure in a few weeks nobody will remember it.

Anyway I agree with Bre, it's a very neutral choice and the safe and logical choice. A true Centrist.

It is A safe choice but also first step in right direction.

Unfortunately at this time, having a liberal candidate isn't going to work when you're running against orangina (which is everything what dem's are really trying to achieve this November).
