January 21, 20205 yr Also I'm glad he's went for a more interesting album title this time as Relapse/Recovery/Encore/Revival was getting confusing. It also doesn't help that 'Encore' is a word associated as much if not more with another veteran rapper (Jay Z), than Eminem! Edited January 21, 20205 yr by januarysalesnake
January 21, 20205 yr @1218063941483368448 He defiantly shouldn’t have put the lyric in that song as it’s incredibly insensitive but he did contribute and donate a great amount to the Manchester cause. He’s probably going to get a lot of streams just for that lyric alone and probably what he intended no matter how disrespectful it is. It's funny that this is used as his defense when it actually makes it worse? I mean, otherwise you could always argue that he didn't feel affected by it and might have let it pass for that reason, but for someone who supposedly felt the need to contribute and donate a "great amount" to the Manchester cause, shouldn't he have thought "hmm, this feels inappropriate so let me scratch that"?
January 24, 20205 yr I thought he was on his way for a half-decent explanation until he basically finished with "if you're offended, you're an idiot; if you're not, you're elite".
January 24, 20205 yr Well done to Eminem for topping both charts this week. The first time he has done so. 10th No.1 single and 10th No.1 album is quite a feat chart-wise. Looking forward to receiving the CD from Amazon next Friday. There are two versions, censored and un-censored. I mean will a censored Eminem CD have no swearing or just a bit less? :P The un-censored is £2 dearer but same tracks exactly. Edited January 24, 20205 yr by Crazy Chris
January 24, 20205 yr I thought he was going to go down the "it's a very serious issue that I was trying to drive home to anybody that was listening and I was hoping that you could see what my intentions were. I am sorry for any offense I may have caused with these particular lyrics. They were disrespectful and distasteful. I'm sorry." kinda explanation. But nope. It's exactly what Liam said  What a douche! Pathetic.
January 25, 20205 yr If you're not going to apologize, then why bother? If he wants to stand by it, then just do that. It's not like he's the modern day GG Allin he thinks he is.
January 25, 20205 yr I kind of get what he means by what he’s saying tbh. I definitely can see why it got a big reaction and I also think if a newer artist or a female artist done this it would be career suicide but I don’t for one minute think he was making light of Manchester now I’ve looked at the situation more closely. The GP are obviously not too bothered either given he’s #1 in both charts. Plus Eminem is one of the most charitable celebrities too as far as rappers go he’s one of the better ones personality wise. A lot of his actions are his “character” what he plays up to when he’s recording. Sure a few on here will disagree though
January 25, 20205 yr Pitchfork reviews kinda nails it https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/eminem...be-murdered-by/
February 16, 20205 yr Pitchfork reviews kinda nails it https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/eminem...be-murdered-by/ Reading the review for the Marshall Mathers LP it's only dawned on me that the word 'Stan' comes from the actual song or am I wrong?
February 17, 20205 yr Reading the review for the Marshall Mathers LP it's only dawned on me that the word 'Stan' comes from the actual song or am I wrong? Yes of course it does. Stan was the fan.
February 17, 20205 yr It didn't hit me though that it's everyday use (on BJ in particular) comes from the song!
February 26, 20205 yr Do we think he *actually* raps that fast on 'Godzillia'? Or has it been speeded up, or recorded in segments and then assembled, or some other technological trickery?
February 27, 20205 yr I just can't imagine it being humanly possible! I played the lyric video and tried rapping along but didn't come even close to saying anything coherent
