Since B****t, there has been a shortage of lorry drivers. Transport Secretary has now come up with a solution. Increase the number of hours drivers can work and supply them with amphetamines. A driver in control of 40+ tons of metal while on drugs - what could possibly go wrong?

A decision that could literally kill people. Tired lorry drivers are already one of the most dangerous things on UK roads, adding more of them is just a very nasty accident waiting to happen. A transport secretary should be well aware of the dangers of this and be doing literally anything but this

"Taking back control of borders"

How's that working out?

- shortages in the service & care sector as EU low-paid staff leave the country

- keeping borders wide open during a global pandemic to make sure we get as many variants as possible and harm the economy

- paying £75m to France to protect our borders from illegal immigrants while also getting Navy ships involved and still they come in their thousands, cos, errr, we are an island surrounded by sea and we don't have enough Navy ships in existence to patrol it all. Around 10,000 last year, double that this year. So I reckon it works out conservatively about £15,000 per person. Be cheaper to just give them visas and get them employed in the vacant jobs market where they could actually contribute to taxes and the economy.

- having signed an agreement with the EU to install a trade inspection barrier of sorts across the Irish Sea, in order to get a basic deal with the EU and a delicious free trade with Trump USA, Johnson decides he disagrees with the moron that signed the document to create what the signed trade deal agreed to do. The USA have made clear that free movement across the border is essential, as the broker of the Peace deal, so any trade deal will be dependant on sticking to the agreements all round, and the Tory press meanwhile phrase all of this as "EU rejects reason" instead of "Johnson is losing it, rejecting the deal he brokered and signed and got rid of Teresa May in order to get the version he wanted and that he was elected with a landslide to get".

So much winning. So many lies.

We need HGV drivers badly. Like real bad. Same for care staff. Why not rescue these folks from Calais and from refugee camps in Lebanon et al and vet them and come here and set them up and train them for care work and to drive HGVs. All the absolute (99.9999999999999%) majority want is to build themselves a better life. We have shortages in vital sectors. Problem solved in my book

The EU is rightly sticking firm on the protocol noting that the UK asked for it, the UK negotiated it, the UK red lines made this the only option, the UK wasn’t willing to do a deal that would have meant it unnecessary in the damn first place, the UK said it was an „oven ready“ deal, the UK said it was an amazing deal, the UK rammed it through parliament with enthusiastic support

So this is a problem of the UKs making and the EU ain’t inclined to give a shit. The EU press, even less so

Aren't those super duper trade deals (including PORK MARKETS) signed by Liz Truss (when she's not trying subtly to roll back decades of equality in her other substantive roll) showcasing the might of GLOBAL BRITAIN to the world?
We said time and time again what would happen in Northern Ireland, but we were told it was project fear, and Cummings' annoying, TAKE BACK CONTROL, OVEN REASY, WILL OF THE PEOPLE, slogans got repeated at us ooover and ooover by the one party news, and even by our own common sense, and espexially by the politicians who now say the deal was terrible. Overn UNready after all!
We need HGV drivers badly. Like real bad.

The shortage of HGV workers at present, meaning some food shortages, is nothing to do with Brexit. It's because so many are isolating after being pinged by the app. Once that's sorted, and the Government is on the case right now, we'll be okay. Also there's been a delay with people taking the HGV driving test due to Covid.

While it's heightened by the 'Pingdemic', the issue is also related to the Free Movement of people between the EU. You are also seeing the same problems in low-skilled work across the hospitality and service sector too. Anything with relation to immigration in the future is related to Brexit as we have completely changed our immigration policy.

If you actually read real news sites instead of propaganda shite you would have seen that the impacts in order of smallest to largest on HGV drivers are: Self-Isolation because Boris is a moron and as a direct result of his stupidity the country is f***ing riddled. Then is Covid delayed driving tests. And finally the number 1 reason is Brexit. EU HGV drivers have left wholesale and refuse to come here at all, especially during Covid, and they cannot recruit the skilled labour to fill the gaps because no EU HGV driver, that hasn’t already been and left the UK wants to come here under brexit conditions and the nasty regime of Priti Patel

While Covid is impacting big Time the sector has very forcefully said that even without the impact of Covid they Are still extremely short on HGV drivers because of Brexit

How come then that the only one the mainstream UK news channels, BBC, ITV and Sky, are focussing on is PINGDEMIC then?

Amazing how you can get Priti's name in there somewhere. I knew someone would soon, even though she's in no way connected to HGV drivers. Any excuse to have a go at her though, just like the pathetic Labour....Well she's not going anywhere anytime soon despite what Labour wants.

That dreadful woman ended freedom of movement and boasted about it. That meant that lorry drivers, to name a random profession, lost their automatic right to work here. Funnily enough, lots of lorry drivers from other European countries have taken that as a message that they are not welcome here.

Imagine coming in here and defending a proven bully.

Because we have a ... waaait for it.... ONE PARTY STATE MEDIA THAT REPEATS THE GIVERNMENT'S LIES!!!! The media here is little better than North Korea. The BBTory is a government propaganda channel. Sorry.

Imagine thinking that a shortage of skilled labour in a sector that has been heavily reliant on *foreign labour* has absolutely zero connection to the minister in charge of immigration.

Focus on the Ping aspect is because it is a uniting feature that is impacting multiple sectors across all walks of life throughout England (it has been noted that Scotland, whose app is seperate, is not facing anywhere near the same level of impact but England falling to bits has a knock on effect on x-border supply routes) but the BBC online did highlight general issues with the HGV sector in their coverage because I read it myself this morning. They had industry quotes. It is an established fact that HGVs are suffering in particular because it is the sector of the economy that was already drowning and it’s exacerbated by the deliberate ideological choices of Boris and Priti. Both are up to their dirty treasonous corrupt little necks in it

Anyone noticed any shortages in the shops? For the second Saturday running Asda hasn't had many bottles of fresh orange juice so they limited them to just one each today. Usually get three.

Also tinned green beans, for me and the dog. None anywhere, Asda, Tesco or corner shop where I got them sometimes. He said there are none in the wholesalers and most come from France.

Nah been grand myself in NI even with the so called Irish Sea border which is gonna lead to the end of life as we know it and the end of the Union 🙄

Why post this in this thread if you aren’t blaming Brexit for empty shelves? If you believe it’s down to COVID, post this in a different thread :P
