September 22, 20204 yr Toby don’t bother. He appears to be hallucinating an alternate reality. Like a never ending ket hole
September 22, 20204 yr Cabinet minister Michael Gove has today warned the hauliers association that in a “reasonable worst-case scenario”, queues of 7,000 port-bound trucks could face two-day delays in Kent.
September 22, 20204 yr Cabinet minister Michael Gove has today warned the hauliers association that in a “reasonable worst-case scenario”, queues of 7,000 port-bound trucks could face two-day delays in Kent. Ah, teething problems.
September 23, 20204 yr I don’t know what’s funnier. The phrase reasonable worst-case scenario or the fact that drivers will obviously LOVE spending two days locked in their trucks with goods going bad by the minute? Honestly two days sounds like the BEST possible case scenario. 7k trucks processed in 48 hours?! Yeah good luck :’) Edited September 23, 20204 yr by ɥɔʇᴉq
September 23, 20204 yr @1308755603247034368 a Kent access permit! We can put the internal borders in the counties, that's the solution by Gove! Maybe if it gets backed up enough, Sussex will be next.
September 23, 20204 yr Johnson B feat. Tory Thee Brexiteer - KAP #1 in January 2021 for 3 weeks come on let's make it happen x Edited September 23, 20204 yr by ɥɔʇᴉq
September 23, 20204 yr Are trucks gonna need a Kent access permit to do the daily delivery run to the counties supermarkets? That’s a lot of paperwork for Morrison’s, Tesco et al when they ain’t moving any goods over the border. Like most things I suspect the government has no answer because it hasn’t yet thought that far through the issue at hand. This is the problem when you elect populists. When push comes to shove they have nothing to offer behind the empty rhetoric because that’s all they are. Empty rhetoric. Not an ounce of common sense or intelligence between them (or the thick planks that vote for them)
September 23, 20204 yr Remember that company that was awarded a ferry contract by Grayling even though they had no ferries? Well, despite being able to keep the cash (taxpayers' money in the phrase usually used by Tories) without actually having to do anything, they have gone bust.
September 23, 20204 yr I've been saying this for years. Every truck has to be stopped, it's even things you don't even realise, like labelling of ingredients etc. - its going to be utter carnage and hold the supply chain up. Every major FMCG has been saying this. The only good thing in this current economic climate is you will need a shitton of temp admin/clerical officers to process everything.

This entire experiment is one clusterf*** after another. Still years later the government is simply oblivious to just how much of our lives will change nor what to do about that or how to mitigate that or how to deal with the consequences of their decisions. Sadly the joblessness that will result from Brexit is greater than the admin jobs it creates. So much for removing red tape from Brussels. It’s like complaining that you’re drowning in a half empty bathtub and promptly going for a swim in the middle of the pacific
September 24, 20204 yr Saw someone on twitter mention casually that the M25 runs through Kent. Will trucks need a permit to transit through Kent on the M25?? So many questions to a daft solution to an utterly unnecessary problem.
September 24, 20204 yr Every time I read here it's doom and gloom in every post. :( Makes me even more depressed that I already am. Better stop reading I think and stick to music, TV etc. Most of you are less than half my age yet you can't think positively about this. No-one's said all these delays will happen. Gove just said a "worst case scenario". Let's hold horses until Jan. 1st comes. Am sure the Government is preparing for a deal and a no deal and making all the necessary plans behind the scenes and it'll all be fine. There may be slight teething problems as with anything new. I admit that. Am not so naive as to think there won't be some problems the first week or so. We're not privy to know everything the Civil Service is doing. Mind you a lot are going back to working from home only weeks after returning to the office. Come on guys, let's think positively. :) Let's not show the EU that we're expecting the worst all the time or they'll be laughing their heads off. Let them see why we are GREAT Britain. We are Great Britain to distinguish us from the French region of Brittany. Meanwhile, we are still waiting to hear about any benefits from leaving.

Based on the last four years, three months and one day, what is it about the government that makes you think this worst case scenario isn't by far the most likely?
September 24, 20204 yr It’s doom and gloom Chris, because it is. This is what I have been saying for nearly 4 years. But what do I know, I’m just a remoaner apparently.
September 24, 20204 yr It’s quite difficult to ‘just think positively’ when something we didn’t vote for and can’t see the benefits of is being forced upon us. Being young is nothing to do with it other than the fact that when everything does go tits up, we have to live with it for longer.
September 24, 20204 yr I thought so positively of Brexit that I literally fled to the EU. I voted to Remain in the EU and remain I shall. Counting down the years until I can rescind my British nationality and take German citizenship and return to the warm embrace of the full benefits of EU citizenship (while keeping my fingers crossed that Scotland goes Indie so I can be a dual Scottish-German Full EU National) It's "doom and gloom" in here because brexit is a giant mistake full of horrific consequences and stupid ideologically driven choices that have no bearing in economics, morals, ethics, international law or reality.
