I'm happy to see 'Good As Hell' drop out. While it's not her worst, I just don't really get the appeal of Lizzo.

Ari is pretty pointless on the remix too.

Fully agree with this on both points. The remix helped the track get a better peak here a bit like how Eminem helped The Weeknds The Hills but you rarely hear the Ari version and I doubt it’ll be a tour staple or something Ariana becomes associated with.

24 6.70 Bed (Nicki Minaj feat. Ariana Grande)

Highest: HausofKubrick (10), Jay (9.5) / Lowest: blacksquare, Jupiter (3)

The first single out to include long term collaborator 'Nicki Minaj', whose name is still to come up for major hits including 'Side to Side' and 'Bang Bang'. It was released as the second single from Nicki's 'Queen' album. I was super excited for this, due to how glorious 'Get On Your Knees' from Nicki's 'Pinkprint' album was. They managed to created another nice, vibey, chilled track with a generous pinch of sex, however for me it doesn't quite reach the heights of 'GOYK'.

However, it's clear that the track isn't abhorred by anyone, with most people giving it high/average scores. It received only the second 10 score of the results so far from 'HauseofKubrick', with lowest scores (that were not majorly harsh) of 3 from 'blacksquare' and 'Jupiter'. The majority of you gave scores of 6 or 8.

There were plans to release two different music videos for the track from different directors, however I believe both videos ended up being merged into one? (Correct me If I'm wrong.)

It didn't set the charts on fire, only going top 10 in Belgium (Flanders) and top 20 in Belgium (Wallonia), Australia and the UK (JUST! @ #20). Nevertheless it managed to chart in a lot of countries around the world and ended up being certified Platinum in Canada, Gold in Australia and the United States and Silver in the UK.

'Get On Your Knees' really is fabulous isn't it :wub:

I was extremely underwhelmed by 'Bed' at the time of release but it's grown on me a little bit since.

'Get On Your Knees' really is fabulous isn't it :wub:

Gutted it never got released as a single, needed a music video!! But yeh same, I was underwhelmed but now I like it, I feel like my 6 was a tad harsh, maybe next time I'd push it to a 7.

These results are going fairly well so far, glad Good As Hell and Bed are out already as they were nothing special at all. Surely Focus is going soon though?

'Adore' continues to be criminally underrated.

'Bed' still sounds like it was made in a lab and is even duller than I remember.

'Bed' isn't an instant song. But it's incredibly infectious and I love the vibe of it. I understand why people are/were disappointed though, but for me, I like it a fair bit and find it very catchy. Although 'Dance To This' > this.

'Good As Hell' is such a fantastic song in its own right, but her awkardly shoehorned in part is not. She really does not suit the song at all.

I actually quite like 'Bed', although at this point I pretty much forget it exists.

I listened to 'Bed' loads when it was released but have hardly gone back to it since.

This seems like the right place for it to drop out.

23 6.71 Quit (with Cashmere Cat)

Highest: dan.G, SevenSeize, LewisGT + Jade (9), Cqmerqn (8.5) / Lowest: SamJudd + Wall (3), HausofKubrick (4)

Dropping out next at #23 is 'Quit'! BuzzJack has decided that this is the more popular Cashmere Cat collaboration of the two in this rate, after 'Adore' departed in 27th. 'Quit' was released in 2017, a good two years after 'Adore', so it's the latest instance of the two working together. It appeared as a track on Cashmere Cat's '9' album. What we have here is a laidback tropical house song, bang on trend at the time. Ariana was a natural fit for the collaboration after dabbling into the tropical pop world herself during the 'Dangerous Woman' era just one year before, 'Be Alright' being a prime example. However, it wasn't Ariana who was originally behind this song. It was initially a Sia demo! So you may hear hints of the Australian singer's style in 'Quit'. Cashmere Cat is slick on production duties as ever and Ariana takes a more calming vocal approach on this occasion. It's quite a different experience to her bold runs on the chorus of 'Adore'. She proves that her vocals can shine even with a more restrained delivery. She sounds emotional and passionate on this nostalgic ballad as she proclaims that "I can't quit you". Ari has stated that 'Quit' is a very special song to her, so that emotion is authentic despite not writing it herself. Quite a few of us flocked to give this high scores - with myself, Dan, Seven and Lewis all awarding it an impressive 9. But posters such as SamJudd and Wall were less keen.

~~~
'Quit' is lush, I'd really like to hear Ariana on some more dance features in the future.
Quit is the 2nd standout single to drop out so far for me (after Monopoly).
I'm glad to see it get a pretty solid average rating. It's such a lush track and their best collaboration.
Glad that 'Quit' is the higher of the 2 Cashmere Cat songs (I didn't care for 'Adore' at all oops) but still too low. x
Good to see Quit higher than Adore, definitely a better song!
22 6.71 Focus
Highest: Riser (11) / Lowest: Bré, SevenSeize (0)
Bré can breathe a sigh of relief - Focus has finally dropped out. Originally slated to be the lead single from Ariana's third studio album, then titled Moonlight, Focus instantly drew comparisons to My Everything's lead single Problem, notably in its production and chorus. The song peaked top 10 in the US and UK, but clearly underperformed compared to expectations and was left off the final album tracklist, later renamed to Dangerous Woman with its title track as the new lead single. Focus was, however, included on the album as a Japanese bonus track. Interestingly, Focus outpeaked every Dangerous Woman single except Side to Side, though it's hard to argue that it's actually worthy of that status when Dangerous Woman and Into You were also so big!
'Focus' finished 9th last time so that's a bit of a collapse! Of course there is more competition this time though. It's still my least favourite Ariana song oops, the chorus is just so grating :( the rest of the song is fine, I wish Ariana had sung the chorus instead so that I wouldn't dislike it.
It's criminal that Focus is out so early :(
It's easily in my top 5 Ariana songs. It's also my 8th most played song on last.fm behind 7 Ariana singles boosted by their albums. It would probably be 3rd if you took out album scrobbles.
'Focus' is really 24th because I gave it -1 not 0 x
Thank god it isn't top 20 :cheer:
For a song this high up the results though 6.71 feels like a kind of low score - these kind of rates are usually much more stan-inflated aren't they, for example the Kelly Clarkson rate in the pop forum only had 6 songs that got a lower score than that, and even the very lowest song was still over 6!
