Also we have a Chinese take away shop that is going to open on Tuesday this week. Another queue forming outside.

We already have queues outside for the Co-op Supermarket, Bakery, Chemist, Newsagents, Butcher, Fish & Chips shop, and now the Chinese take away, you are literally going to walk into a person outside in a small shopping precinct. And there are other shops, 2 cafes, 2 hairdressers, solicitor, lol

Some businesses that can open should be allowed to open, otherwise like I said earlier, the effects are going to be horrendous. We can social distance where we can but it's impossible to in some situations. The alternative is sitting inside until there is a vaccine which may or may not ever materialise.

I’m really pissed off. Can you tell?

Sorry... I'm just a bit angry

I understand completely, but its all the queues outside for different retail outlets.

Anyone got a crumb of hope they'd like to give me? Anxious mess because of a f***ing CLOWN. It shouldn't be like this.

Yes, just assume everything is staying as it has for the last 2 months, try not to worry, and take care of yourself and your family, this is not going to end anytime soon but the important thing is to stay well, everything else gets sorted in time - jobs, income, society getting back to normal. We will get there in the end and it's still possible to enjoy some things, like music, friends, family, social media, exercise outdoors.

I interpret the rules to suit me while being sensible (hopefully). You can go out for a walk, and if your walk happens to go past your family's house, you can talk through a small window as long as you are exercising at the same time. Maybe :)

If your family is elderly you can check they are OK and deliver things they need that they cant otherwise get. It's no different from Tesco delivering an order to leave on the doorstep.

That was...not reassuring at all. Nice job, Boris. It just doesn't feel right that we're lifting things here and yet it's staying the same in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. That is not a United Kingdom, and as for that stay alert crap...well I feel like that's already been deservedly trashed enough. My fears that people will believe from this that the lockdown is over and we're past the worst remain, and with a message as unclear as that, there will be a whole host of misinterpretations.

I feel very bad for all the manufacturing and construction workers that have no choice but to use public transport to go to work and mix with the key workers that need it :/

The one good thing is fines being increased for rule flouters and quarantine on flights but sodding hell, the latter should've been brought in WEEKS AGO :manson:

I'm just gonna carry on as I was, I doubt I'll be called back to work if it'll likely just be primary schools that are coming back and I can work from home effectively. I'm hoping I won't need to go near public transport until September at the earliest.

That was really confusing. The message said very little considering the amount of time he was on screen for.

The going back to work bit was weird, tomorrow morning get in your car and travel to work if you can't work from home. No time to give employers a chance to contact their employees and establish how that's going to work for their business or whether it's safe for the staff to come in or not. What if you're self employed? Are hairdressers reopening etc? Even as a consumer I have no idea what to expect to be open and what not to expect.

Also, let's all do that work stuff first thing tomorrow whilst the more simple measure of going out for exercise more than once a day can only be done from Wednesday for some unknown reason.

I won't personally be changing anything about my approach, I'll be staying at home!

Personally speaking, I feel quite exposed standing in line to get into supermarkets, and just walk away if it's too long and go back late afternoon when it's not that busy. A few things might have sold out, but it's preferable to breathing in everyone else's shared air.

Meanwhile the Mail On Sunday's Political Editor Harry Cole is busy tweeting:

Cabinet are RAGING. On paper they’re meant to meet later to discuss 50 page doc and virus fight. But PM has already recorded his message, sent doc to the printers and seemingly made all the decisions with the so called quad... what’s the point of even dialling in, some asking.

So, Tory press, note, not anti-Tory-press. Seems Bojo has pissed off the House (got a telling off from The Speaker), and his own Cabinet. Seems his brush with death has taught him nothing, same old huge Johnson.

Not sure if it was carried nationwide (or if it was BBC or STV that was on), but I was on the phone with my folks at the end of Boris’s briefing and they immediately had Nicola on the TV like literally seconds later, forcing home the message that constitutionally speaking Boris is talking for England only and have a detailed explanation of why it didn’t count for Scotland.

My folks are staunch brexiteer unionists and neither of them can stand Sturgeon at all. Like they really can’t hack her. Since corona started I’ve not heard a single bad word from them about Scotland’s handling of this. They both fully back Nicola and they paid more attention to what she said after Boris than what he said. I can’t put a strong enough emphasis on how drastic that is a position for my folks to take.

Thank god for Nicola because her approach is really cutting through to people of all political affiliation in Scotland and ultimately that’s going to save lives

BBC are saying you can meet one person from another household outside so long as you socially distance

You can meet one person from outside your own household if you stay two metres apart

So, you can sit next to a single friend in the park, but you must socially distance

So glad we have a Government who can communicate this effectively to the public in a TV address and publish a clear guidance document straight afterwards rather than leaking vital details to all the press journalists before and after 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃

Mark Drakeford has also reiterated that same message for Wales.

It’s going to be chaos, I live a 15 minute drive from the border and work a five minute walk away from it.

I’ve already had one knobhead on Facebook banging on about how these devolved nations are causing confusion and all news should come from Boris. That would all be great if we could trust Boris and if his plans were actually any good. ‘But no one knows who Drakeford is, everyone knows Boris!!!!1!1’ What can you expect from a PE teacher tho?

One person from another household has been lockdown standard for me since the very beginning. I’ve only taken advantage of it very recently but it’s been a sanity lifeline. I really done understand why the UK is in such a mess with such a harsh set of conditions.

It just doesn't feel right that we're lifting things here and yet it's staying the same in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Thought actually weeks ago it was actually going to be eased in the Celtic countries first rather than England, as England has the biggest outbreak, probably even taking into account the population numbers of each constituent country of the UK.

Omg. He couldn't sit on the fence any more if he...actually sat on a f***ing fence. Really??

Wish I could move somewhere sensible, like Scotland or Wales. Why do we have to be so crap? Started lockdown too late, trying to lift it too early. Madness.

I’m really pissed off. Can you tell?

Nicola seems so sensible atm and has been clear with her speeches but it's worth nothing until today the Scottish Government did virtually nothing differently from the UK government and this is coming from a (less passionate than before) SNP supporter.

Stay Alert sounds like as if a bomb is about to drop from the sky at any moment... for fffing sake.

Before long the conservative party are going to crumble, stay alert means utterly nothing to me... stay alert for what, Boris's brain is a size of a pea, he couldn't even direct an orchestra.

Much as that would be nice, I think you're going way beyond wishful thinking.

The only real thing there was the government telling the working class to get back to work — the rest was purposefully vague nonsense.

Bang on. Coded, that was a speech for business owners and the rich tp reassure them. They don't give a shit about us.

What do you suggest then?

I don't think the speech reassures anyone. If anything it just reassures businesses when they can make redunancies. Don't think lots of people understand the wider impact Covid is going to have on us, they have got to try and salvage some sectors of the economy. Our unemployment figures are going to be the largest we have ever seen in most people's lifetimes.

It would have been nice if they had shown some humanity and mentioned how they are going to help people. They did not even say the word family once. That's a disgrace.

I can’t see it happening but can Scotland and Wales go against Boris and open schools and shops before 1st June or do they have to follow the ‘plan’ Boris has announced?

How do construction workers keep a distance?

You can go for unlimited walks / Exercise! Play Football! He can’t even do anything live because he genuinely has no idea what he’s talking about.
