This was the decade where reality shows exploded onto our screens and it really felt like anyone could be famous and anyone had the opportunity to appear on the shows. Nowadays, due to the over-saturation and the fact you don't even have to audition for these shows anymore to be famous, you just need enough insta followers, it doesn't have quite the same spark. However, back in the 2000s reality shows broadcast what was believed to be their auditions process (naturally it was actually the 4/5th stage of auditions) and it gave us some iconic moments.

 

It birthed a monster with The Cheeky Girls

 

 

and the first legendary bad audition on The X Factor

 

 

and who can forget BONNEH from Big Brother who was planning to even have Davina at home flicking her bean

 

Wow, I was thinking of doing a Pop Idol thread!

 

That first series was *.* following on from the Popstars documentary that gave us Hearsay, Liberty X and our first glimpse of Darius, Pop Idol was a new way of TV for all of us.

 

I loved that first series with no fanfare, the judges just sat on a sofa, no huge stage, no dressing up every week or using backup dancer and props. And of course, Will Young taking down Simon Cowell!

 

 

It’s missing the bit where Nicki Chapman tells him not to take Simon’s comment but how could anyone deny that performance of Light My Fire? No wonder he won.
