June 19, 20205 yr So happy with how well Madonna did - I think we all knew that she was likely to be out this round so we thought we’d send something that was a good representation of her ballads rather than a more recent poorer example of her upbeat tracks. It’s nice that Oh Father got to have its moment as it’s a bit of a personal and favourite track for the five or so of us that regularly post in her forum ^_^

June 19, 20205 yr It was in consideration but we figured it might be too slow and long for first time listeners. We struggled between 'Living for Love' and 'Oh Father' for ages (I was constantly changing my mind!). We didn't expect the support that 'Living for Love' received from some members but we were unsure if people would actually vote for it - we assumed pop fans would favour the Gaga and Rihanna choices and Madonna would end up just missing out, so 'Oh Father' seemed like a good choice to cater for those who weren't fans of the Gaga/Rihanna choices. We knew that there were a few fans who really loved 'Oh Father' so could guarantee their votes. Now that the round has played out, 'Living for Love' could have seen us through, but we figured we would regret not sending 'Oh Father' if we still left the competition with 'Living for Love'.
