Wetherspoons are tonight selling all pints of beer, lager and cider to takeaway for 99p so that it doesn't go off. You've to order and pay online.

Given that I think Tim Martin is an absolute BELLEND and our local Greene King is much better, I'll pass.

60,000 new cases in France today.. mental! Although I am guessing the testing has been scaled up, which is why some countries figures look disproportinate to ours.
Have you seen the video on ITV News of that woman arrested for trying to take her elderly mother out of a nursing home? Cops wouldn't let her.

I also saw a video of a guy who was refusing to shut his tattoo parlour in Bristol

Parking restrictions here in Newham haven't been suspended like they were in the first lockdown. Wife asked me to check. Nothing on their website anyway.
First vacinne found with 90% success rate. Clearly this is amazing news that one of the first to trial has such a high success rate (although it sounds a logistical nightmare for warmer countries). Bodes well for the future..

Joe Biden, now this. It's been a great few days!

Donald Trump won't be able to claim credit for this

Well, he's already on Twitter! I think the Oxford results are due in a couple of weeks too.

The cynic in me says we were holding off lockdown because we thought we could make it to the vaccine.. press conference tonight at 5pm which I imagine will explain we have a vaccine but it's going to be for the extremely vulnerable and healthcare workers first of all. But regardless, it does show light at the end of the tunnel for mid 2021.

I'll believe it when I see it! And I'd like to see BoJo receive it live on air when it does get 'approval'

It will get emergency approval, 100%. Especially with a 90% success rate and no health concerns detected in the pre-data. It will be interesting to see the peer reviews from a competitor to Pfizer, but it sounds like no one under the age of 50 unless you are a healthcare worker will be getting it in the near future.

Oh look, a sensible and restrained statement written by the President Elect of America with no hyperbole and no overpromising.

It looks like 2021 will be a good year. : )

Not pence taking credit for funding its development when it was the German Gov who stumped up 375m€

This is fantastic news of course!! I’m hoping to see other candidates with good results in the next few months so that we have an arsenal of vaccines.

I reckon it’ll be summer next year before I, as a healthy 31/32 year old, will be eligible for the vaccine in Germany. Jens Spaan (our health minister) estimates that the program will start with the key workers and high risk folks mid Q1 2021 although that was before the BioNTech news broke. Now to see if the cash from Germany means were in line first for the jag

Everyone is restrained, but everyone also seems really optimistic in the science community. Agree that this is no magic bullet in the immediate short term and the reality is we will still have social distancing methods in place for a while yet, BUT it really does look like there may be cautious optimism after the spring about a real return to some form of normality.

I know, I was referring to Trump. It's good news, and we all need that right now.

The Sun says Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe has Covid and is seriously ill and refusing all treatment which he has a right to do as they said he has suffering from no mental illness before.

We've both decide we won't have it. As wife says, they usually test vaccines far longer and it's too risky. A lady I know in the US will refuse it too, same thinking really.

This is what I imagine Trump was claiming back all those weeks ago, we've known for ages the preliminary results for a few of the trials would be in November. You do wonder if this news came out a week or two earlier what effect it might have had on the election campaign. I've no doubt he would have gone full Putin and given out the vaccine. I've read that the GCHQ are stepping up their online efforts to stop anti-vaxxers peddling myths about Bill Gates trying to chip us all in the coming months too.

Natural selection innit.

I don't think they would have delayed the announcement, though it is amusing that the unintended consequence of this will be a huge boost to the US economy just as Biden takes over... !

Natural selection innit.

Pfizer have said their vaccine kills 90% of Covid in the body/
