December 18, 20204 yr So helpful of England and Wales to announce remote learning first week in January at the very end of term. We’re now at home trying to figure out logistics for key worker children and remote learning on what was supposed to be the first day of our holiday. It's another spectacular piece of bungling by the disgraced former Defence Secretary (speaking only about England as that's where I live). I was working in a school yesterday on the last day of term and nobody had a clue that this was about to happen. All the children were, therefore, sent home at the end of the day in the expectation that they would all return on the same day in January. For the year eights upwards, it will be shambolic but at least it should be a case of resurrecting the arrangements made before the summer (albeit with a lot of the books etc. they might need still in school). For the year sevens, it is even worse as their previous arrangements will have been at a range of primary schools. Nothing has changed in the last few days to explain why this suddenly become necessary so why couldn't they have announced it at the start of this week or earlier? Teachers should be starting a well-earned break now. Instead they have suddenly been lumbered with yet another bombshell.
December 18, 20204 yr I see Priti Patel is encouraging people to report their neighbours to the police if they suspect they're breaking coronavirus rules over Christmas. Oh I can't WAIT for her to inevitably slip up and be photographed without a mask or not socially distancing etc., just like all the other sanctimonious people in the media who tell us we're going to kill grandma if we don't follow the rules.
December 18, 20204 yr I don't think the police force would have enough personnel (nor, let's be honest, enthusiasm) to investigate & break up such numerous scenarios anyway.
December 18, 20204 yr Oh definitely, it's just the idea of grassing on your neighbours is such a sly, spiteful thing to do. You have to live with these people and it's no environment to live in if everyone is turning on each other or being suspicious of others. We're all trying our best to get through this and this type of holier-than-thou attitude from politicians and the media really winds me up when they have no idea what it's like in the real world.
December 18, 20204 yr Priti Patel who claims to be sacrificing seeing her own family during the holidays when I doubt any of them would want to be anywhere near her at any time of the year.

December 18, 20204 yr Think Patel should be more afraid of her neighbours grassing her up for her treasonous activities
December 18, 20204 yr I don't think the police force would have enough personnel (nor, let's be honest, enthusiasm) to investigate & break up such numerous scenarios anyway. I think they will try to attend and break up big parties though.
December 18, 20204 yr I really can’t see anyone having massive, wild parties on Christmas Day though? Perhaps I’m just too sheltered, but my Christmas days have never been like that.

December 18, 20204 yr I was thinking this today, could days of heavy snow drive the figures down as more people would be at home or have I missed something?
December 18, 20204 yr Tbh I don't see why more people aren't reporting the government for little things if you can make an anonymous tip. People need to start taking their gloves off.
December 18, 20204 yr According to omnicalculator, it’s my turn between 26th June and 16th September. I do think lockdowns are pointless. Instead of doing another lockdown in January, just introduce tier 4 and make it exactly the same as lockdown2 but with gyms open

December 18, 20204 yr Or as I have previously suggested do a tier 5 which would be a military enforced lockdown. Bring the military in to stop these pointless protests and to stop weirdos like David Icke and Piers Corbyn
December 19, 20204 yr There are rumours they might put the South East under lockdown tonight.. Anyway the issue is now, it's Christmas, people have covid fatigue and a lot of people don't care and are not sticking to any regulations. Admittedly I have not this week either so I'm a bit of a hypocrite, but I'll take it as different circumstances. Before when people were mixing households in restaurants or having parties etc. I wouldn't ever see anything on social media, but it's all over the place from all the people I know all over the country, quite simply I think a lot of people just do not care. I think for the Tiers to be effective and keep the R below 1 it probably needs 80% of people to be compliant.. I'd be shocked if it's even at 50% right now.
December 19, 20204 yr Or as I have previously suggested do a tier 5 which would be a military enforced lockdown. Bring the military in to stop these pointless protests and to stop weirdos like David Icke and Piers Corbyn holy shit I didn't expect to see people advocating for martial law on here Create an environment where people care about their society and are incentivised to keep lockdown because they aren't under a mental assuault because of the stress it causes them, they won't break it, Britain hasn't done this. You certainly don't need martial law to crush the insignificant nut of random protests while tearing up the right to protest.
December 19, 20204 yr Travelling in a pandemic is interesting. Because of the new harsher lockdown, they’ve shut all non essential stores in the country and that apparently includes airports!! Not even duty free is open here

You certainly don't need martial law to crush the insignificant nut of random protests while tearing up the right to protest. The people who are protesting are covid deniers and they’re protesting against masks. They’re also protesting against things which are not mandatory such as vaccines. The Bristol protests last Saturday, they were all chanting "take off your masks" Edited December 19, 20204 yr by Hadji
