Sky reporting chaos at Heathrow with up to a 2 hour wait whilst checks are made as to whether people have negative test proof. Luggage piled high too. At least it shows they're doing it properly.

People needing to isolate will soon be sent to hotels and not allowed to leave. They're sorting it out. Passengers will have to pay up to £1,500 a week, similar to what Australia's charged.

I've definitely been to Heathrow and had to wait 2 hours for my bags back before :D

Be interesting to see how the media reaction to the enforced quarantine is with the cost. I'll be waiting to hear a few influencer based stories shortly..

When I came back to Germany after Xmas I flew via AMS. We were parked at a bus gate, bussed in to the main terminal where we were immediately greeted by a test result check. Took no more than five mins for me to get off the bus, show my negative result, the Dutch form and my passport; for it all to be checked and for me to be in the main hall at Schiphol.

Two hours is ridiculous but if they’ve given border force the job it’s unsurprising. That lot are so useless I would make a comparison but I can’t think of anything to compare them to. Even a chocolate teapot has infinitely more usefulness than the UK border cops

The success of the vaccine so far shows that the NHS should ALWAYS be given medical contracts, and not have them bunged out to the private sector, i.e the Tories' chums. Every other covid or brexshit contract - test and trace, ferries, etc - was an unmitigated disaster because they were handed out to incompetent Tory donors. Don't you agree, common sense?
24hr vaccination centres to be piloted in London by the end of the month!

Some people will be a bit unlucky then and their vaccine appointment will be at 2 or 3am in the morning!

Have they stopped reporting on the daily death counts? I'm not sure if I'm just being blind but I haven't seen any reporting on this for the last few days?

I suspect those appointments will be given to those who might work shifts etc. - so potentially extended care home workers. It's just a pilot I suppose, but 24/7 will be useful as we forget that a lot of the working population (and probably a lot of those aged 40-60) might work in manufacturing which is 24/7.

The vaccine rollout so far seems to be going really well. It does look like it will be early March by the time some things are back up and running though providing the case numbers continue to go down.

It's still going. Sundays number was about 620 iirc.

All very moot and no doubt everyone is chomping at the bit for when we pass 100,000 (and the reality is it has probably already passed this figure). It's a grim milestone of course, but at least we can hold our Government to account. There is absolutely no way other countries are recording deaths in the same way - looking at you India.

Drakeford is an arse defending his slow roll out of the vaccine and basically saying he’s deliberately being slow with it. Guess I’m probably going to die of old age before I get it if Covid doesn’t get me first.

From BBC News

London has given fewest vaccines

London has administered the lowest number of vaccinations in England's regions so far, NHS England data shows.

A total of 417,225 jabs were given to people in the capital between 8 December and 17 January, including 367,209 first doses and 50,016 second doses.

This compares to 746,487 total jabs in the Midlands, 681,317 in the North East and Yorkshire, 541,145 in the North West, 652,350 in the South East, 461,792 in the South West and 424,135 in the East of England.

You wouldn't expect London to have had less vaccinations than the South West. The virus has been more prevalent recently in London and also there is a high population there.

Maybe there are less over 80s living in London? I've no idea, just a hunch.

Good point maybe that's why, didn't think of that.

I’m not sure it’s an accurate comparison given the Uk is a western democracy compared to India!

If getting it at 3.30 in the morning speeds up the chances of me getting protection from this gosh-awful plague earlier, you better believe I’d take it!

My brother is getting his vaccination this Thursday, so my immediate family will soon be well protected.

I too would be fine with an early morning vaccine. Let the vulnerable take the day slots.

Possibly but there is no way India's numbers make any sense in terms of deaths for example. Probably loads more examples across the world. It will be interesting if the WHO come back with anything from the visit to Wuhan too.

I def think the point is that the uk and us figures are nothing to be proud of.
Imagine being too lazy to get out of bed at 3am twice in however many months for a shot.

Imagine not accepting that doing that is more difficult for someone of 75 (particularly if they don't drive) than it is for someone of 25.
