They did in fact already do that for this song once (as it would otherwise have been stuck on ACR due to the 3 year rule). Unsure if that thus resets the clock on the 3 year rule or if they would have had to manually reset it a second time.

They'd have to request again - Good As Hell did enough for a reset exactly a year ago but as it had already gone (back) to ACR at that point, it didn't get reset.

An instant #1 on its third week? :P

I mean instant as soon as the Christmas cleqrout happened

That's interesting as the justification of Perfect going to permanent ACR last September and not before was that it had reached 3 years after its manual reset in Sept 2017.

I also thought songs could only get an automatic reset if they were either in the Top 100 the previous week or would have been if they weren't starred out - so Train Wreck being back on SCR is a strange one.

Very strange also that 'you broke me first' and Levitating respectively climbed 51-46 and 55-51 on the audio streaming chart on Friday and that was apparently enough for a reset, but Head & Heart and Blinding Lights respectively climbed 44-35 and 46-36 and that wasn't enough.

The top 100/starred out rule to be eligible for reset was removed in 2018 I believe

The fact that it's been out this long and is likely to get a new peak this week proves just how big it is (and how deserved of a number 1 it would be).

Or that it is number 1 on the 2 biggest playlists, there is basically very soft competition and other songs that would be out selling it are on ACR.

Ed should’ve waited till NYD to release his song instead of releasing it during the Xmas rush then he could’ve had monster sales. It worked for SOY and COTH

I don't think it was ever enforced. (Or maybe what led them to remove the rule was folding on enforcing the rule the second there was a relevant song that would have been affected by it )

Neither did Sweet Melody.

3 is higher than 31. Saying that, shame Dua’s collab with Kylie ain’t doing too good

Super late but I'm sure they were referring to 'Afterglow' as the second new entry (incorrectly) since it hadn't made the First Look chart until now.

Edit: scratch that, the James Arthur logic makes sense too...not that it matters I guess!

Gerry and the Pacemakers singer Gerry Marsden, whose version of You'll Never Walk Alone became a football terrace anthem for his hometown club of Liverpool, has died at the age of 78.

His family said on Sunday he died after a short illness not linked to Covid-19.

Marsden's band was one of the biggest success stories of the Merseybeat era, and in 1963 became the first to have their first three songs top the chart.

The second of those was Ferry Cross The Mersey, written by Marsden.

Marsden was made an MBE in 2003 for services to charity after supporting victims of the Hillsborough disaster.

22 +837 Gerry & The Pacemakers - You'll Never Walk Alone

on iTunes.

And on iTunes albums chart,

19 NEW Gerry & The Pacemakers - The Best of Gerry & The Pacemakers

Gerry & The Pacemakers haven't been on the albums chart since the 60s. It would be nice to see a greatest hits collection do well this week.

Woukd LM to get another number 1 so I hope they get it even if it's just for a week, I'd also be happy with ed sheeran or Shane codd going number 1.
I can't believe it but Sweet Melody was finally discounted on iTunes, I really hope Little Mix can grab the #1 this week with this much needed push
All versions have been discounted as well! Remixes, acoustic, expanded edition- get your copies, girls!
Waiting to see how Monday mids are. If LM have a good lead, might download the track for extra support. If there is any week for SM this will be it.
