This is why I've yet to host a Pointless or an FF style quiz! Take your time Wardy :)

 

The Elton John question was easy, I just looked up his 'Duets' album from the 90s and tried to find the most obscure artist on there that I could, settling on Little Richard for my pointless answer :D and I think my food album answer was quite inspired, 'It's Only Rock'n'Roll' having not one but two items of food in its title B-) anyway I think I've done fairly well on this!

Yes... this was great to be part of and follow the answers. The two that cost me were Now Boy Band and Food Album and I think they were the ones I really had struggled with (Red HCP album position I looked up on Wiki and thought it was Top 3... but this was in US... what a silly mistake!)

 

Anyways... looking forward to seeing how I did on leaderboard (probs not very well 😕)

For Q2, David Gilmour should be incorrect as he reached #19 at the end of 2006 with a re-recording of Arnold Layne.

Hi everyone, I do appreciate the kind spirit you’ve all shown to me, but the truth of the matter is I made some major mistakes with this quiz, and the overall delivery was a real mess by my standards and what this community has come to expect and deserve from a chart quiz host. It seems I made rash calculations and that I misjudged questions that left loopholes wide open to be exploited which many did understandably. This made it more challenging for me to ensure accuracy which is what this quiz was lacking in a great way, and for that I’m sorry.

 

This shouldn’t have been the way for a new quiz season to start, so I will leave it up to you whether or not you wish to push this quiz to one side and just start with Chris smith’s current quiz which opened today, thereby ignoring the result of this quiz due to the many inadequacies on my part. I had hosted a Pointless quiz before but unfortunately this turned out to be too much for me to handle this time, and I let you down.

 

I have spend the rest of my evening calculating what I think the result of this quiz should have been, and by a fine margin (provided all their questions are accepted as correct), the winner of this Pointless quiz is declared to be Mangø. Here is how the scores looked after I added in penalty points for incorrect answers;

Really pleased with 2nd place. I thought I'd blown it with Tiesto being the most popular answer for one question.

 

Well done Mango on winning. You were a great host, Wardy, and I liked a lot of these questions. You didn't let anyone down.

Shit those two questions and Mcfly really affected things for me to still perform awfully in the scoreboard :drama: and after getting pointless ones to many (and low correct answer points too). 🙃

The boyband question really screwed me over, would have been joint first with Mango instead of 25th(!) if UB40 was counted as a boyband... I had presumed it would be fine as it is an all male band... But guess it is up to host to decide what fits and what doesn't with the questions they set.

I for one have no desire for this quiz to be declared null and void :P

 

I'm really happy with the win and thanks for hosting Wardy - I think you're being a bit too hard on yourself, seriously you did fine! I can imagine how stressful this evening must have been for you so at least you can now sit back and relax and enjoy being on the other side of the questions :)

Yes that's right, my bad I didn't spot that yesterday when I picked up the other incorrect answers to that question. It would move rio309 to 62 points and joint 30th so still (just) within the leaderboard points.

Gutted I went with the stupid Mexican answer, I remembered the discussion about what was an accepted answer wrong - if I’d have stuck with China girl I’d have been on 10 pts and top with Mango!

My first time ever in any Buzzjack quiz where I didn't end up in the bottom tier! :DD
