I hope Imagine Dragons can stay top 100 in the singles, i know Gabrielle will probably fall further in the album but i was expecting her to be out of the top 40 today so she is doing better than i thought, Kings of leon holding up fairly ok on week 2 so far. Jessie Ware top 100 in the album in another midweek chart, i hope she can hold on this time.
When it comes to this solution there is one thing that always makes me wonder if this would really work. It's not that easy for a certain song to get 10+ streams from one person. There are many people who have listened to a song once or twice, 4 times, maybe 6-7 times or so. But I think that the amount of people who have streamed it 10+ times might be relatively small, cause when you think about it 10+ streams from one person for one song is quite a lot.

I'm not entirely sure about that but I can really imagine that obsessive 'Drivers License' fans whose streams should be affected by the cap might be rosponsible for maybe 20% of its weekly consumption while most of its streams comes from casual listeners of playlists etc. who won't reach 10+ streams anytime soon. Therefore to be effective the cap should be lower: 5 streams for one person, maybe 3 or only 2? But would that make sense?

And let me clarify: I'm not against the 'stream cap' solution. I would love it if it would really work and make a difference. I just have some doubts and I'm just not entirely sure that it would work in real life.

What is this based on? Almost everyone I know listens to a very small pool of usually the biggest hits pretty much on loop... (of course, this also may not be representative of the streaming population)

If people are sticking on hit hits every day, I could very feasibly see them racking up their 'sale' for their favourite songs within a few weeks. If 10 feels too high, maybe 5 would be more appropriate (allowing 0.2 sales for a curiosity stream, allowing a full sale for people who choose to listen to it and have listened to it enough to assume that they enjoy the song)...

Nick Jonas deserves better, but tbf, the album was kinda announced out of nowhere? The single was announced on 20th February (not even a month ago) followed by the album announcement. It was all so soon and his name isn't big enough to launch a "surprise release" off.

It's a very good album though. I highly recommend it and 'This Is Heaven' is one of the songs of the year  His best since 'Jealous', imo.

I love the new Thunder album :D

Really happy to see them still selling well 32 years on :)

I put on Spotify playlists whilst working and reckon I've heard the top hits like Drivers Licence more than 3 times a day!

Btw reckon it will fall lower than 17 as ACR punishes songs more as the week goes on.

Yungblud heading for an actual Top 5 single and his album returning to the chart? ONLY A KING!

i've no idea who RJ Thompson is but good on him seemingly getting a top 10 album

I swear I've seen an advert for RJ Thompson's album with its 'Augmented reality' gimmick cover on my facebook, every day for the last 6 months!

Sad to see "Prisoner" all the way down to 62. Hopefully it can rise a little bit throughout the week. On the plus side, Miley's album is up 10 places from last week, despite there being 12 new/re entries ahead of her. Hopefully it'll continue to climb throughout the week!

Pretty smart that her team have sent the new Miley single to radio the week ‘Prisoner’ goes to ACR!

It was released back in October. I think physicals were released this week

Gradual ACR still completely defeats the object in my eyes. A song has its time, peaks, and then declines and gets booted off to ACR. The initial drop looks weird but after that it's less strange. A gradually increasing ratio for a few weeks to transition from SCR to ACR would be even more artificial because it's spread out over time rather than just one big drop downwards before it resumes stability, just lower down the chart. 1-16 will be weird and slightly jarring but it'll stabilise next week of course! It's not about pretty chart runs when, as things stand, Olivia's ACR drop will be ushering in a brand new top 10 hit. That's what the OCC will care more about.

It's not just about the sudden drop for me. I also don't like songs spending 6 months to a year in the top 40. I think ACR should get even more severe as time goes on.

I’m intrigued to see what Tom’s daily sales are - I’m hoping for at least 1k a day - and at least 15-16k in total

I disagree with the notion that explaining ACR would be "too confusing" for a casual listener/follower. You'd not need to go into the nitty gritty details but at least something along the lines of once a song is over a certain number of weeks old it receives a penalty. A very loose explanation yes but a lot better than bullshitting every time it happens on the chart that "everyone has suddenly stopped listen to this en masse in this random specific week".
