I don’t know mine but my gut instinct answer is TR/ST - Sulk

i was hoping you'd say that

thank you jade too!

It was of course:

And about 99% of what Aeroche sends in tbh - seriously, a bit like when they gave the Jules Rimet to Brazil cos they kept on winning the World Cup, just give Leww the BJSC trophy to keep forever already!

Yeah it was before I was participating properly but (spoiler) I used to LURK and before I was dragged over to join in I would watch the madness from the sidelines to get some really great discoveries from the contest. This went straight into my Top 3 if I remember right, it got unlucky being stuck behind my 2 favourite singles of 2012; “Pyramids” by Frank Ocean and “Yet Again” by Grizzly Bear - the latter who I'd just seen live I think (supported by PErfume Genius?) and was absolutely swooning over their new single to loon levels, which happened quite a lot back then I think. Both singles were logjamed in at 1 and 2 for sometime so Unicorn Kid had no way past.

Anyway, I love that it essentially is N-Trance's 90s rave/dance defining anthem “Set You Free” updated to a 2010s production - a bangah of epic proportions, so catchy. Everything about it is just perfect! Just re-listening to it now is taking me back to that period of my life in that autumn and the emotions and everything, it's rare that songs do that for me - it's partly why I strictly keep a chart going so I can look back and indulge in an old Top 10 and take myself back in time occasionally... I wonder what happened to Unicorn Kid, we've not had any new material since he officially quit in 2014 and left for NYC? I think he was ahead of his time by about 3 years or more.

Anyway, that was mine. : )

I hope Cameron's still reading this thread (not that he needs to as he already knows this is my fave!)

(honorable mention to when Yu sent f(x) - 4 walls into the contest which gave me the opportunity to check out the mini album with greater detail - that mini album is the most well-crafted album in K-pop history *.*)

Not to mention it DNQ’ed!! :(

i think i only gave it 8pts at the time but absolutely would have to be TR/ST for me tooo... has grown from bjsc discovery to one of my fav artists of all time.

I think, a whirlwind of joyful pop-rock that sent me into loving Japanese music and associated media

many other ones for different niches including some already mentioned in this thread but no honourable mentions this is my choice

I was never actually a big fan of 'Sulk' itself but as an artist discovery TR/ST has been great for me as well, I've loved a ton of his later material!

In terms of something that I never in a month of sundays have found without the existence of this Contest then it absolutely has to be this

Only thing in my all time top10 most played that I didn’t send to BJSC. (10th @ 501 plays)

For a song that I have never heard of or included in my NMF playlists, this really ends up high (a peak of 2nd position) in my chart:

Awww this makes me so happy to see!

I think it has to be this!

Not convinced I'd ever have stumbled across that without BJSC, such a great song and it introduced me to an artist I've enjoyed numerous more songs by!

I hope Cameron's still reading this thread (not that he needs to as he already knows this is my fave!)

YESSSSSS still so underrated!

Cheers John for the Trifoski shoutout *.*

Hard to pick just one but I’ll go for this~

Great to get a mention in the thread! This was from a Music Week promo CD of acts from the Liverpool Performing Arts academy, which I only got by chance as I had a free trial for four weeks in May 2008! Funny how we stumble across entries sometimes.

That video looks pretty cheap and dated now but the song is still undeniably infectious and trashy <3

Oh wow, definitely didn't expect to see a Land of DW entry here, feels great tbh

This thread made me remember that a while ago I wanted to make a list of my fave entries from all the countries... then I realised that I'm too lazy to do that.

Maybe 2021 is the year that I finally make it happen, we'll see.

For me it's probably this:

Made even more special by the fact that she/her team somehow don't have this version on Spotify. :drama: It's crazy coz the version on 'Heal' is my least fave on the album, whereas this would be right behind 'Euphoria'!

would have to be this one I think (although I'd have eventually found out about it from R1, it was first a BJSC discovery)
