Just a timely reminder btw that debates on BuzzJack about Ed Sheeran are really not that deep (at least on my end!) and I don't think less of anyone for having a different opinion to me. I'm sorry if it ever comes across that way. I am conscious of that and that's why I try to step back occasionally to keep things lighthearted and take the piss out of myself as well (calling myself #edsheerandefenceforce and whatnot). xx

 

I don’t really like terms like ‘it’s not that deep’ being thrown around because it suggests people are taking things too seriously and essentially blaming for their own reactions to something that was said. I understand you probably didn’t mean it like that but it comes across that way.

 

If you’re not taking it too seriously, fine, but you could show that by not ridiculing every negative post about Ed.

I'm not sure where this is coming from but allow me to clarify - my post was a jokey reply to Bray and I had absolutely *nobody* in mind when typing it. I appreciate sarcasm may be difficult to get across online but there's no attack or poking fun at anyone in there beyond a little joke.

If Ed has more signed copies of the Shiver CD maybe he could send them out to the people that were told a month ago that theirs were on their way and who never got them.

 

I was championing Elton to get the number one this week but I hope Ed overtakes him now with or without a CD release just to annoy all you lot moaning and insulting him constantly. It's so ridiculous, we get it you don't like him and resent his success get over it and move on.

 

I say this as someone who has only owned one of his albums and isn't a particularly big fan.

I can see ‘Shivers’ taking it easily enough by Friday, Ed always has higher sales that the mids suggest when the final totals come in. He’s also just increased by 42k on Spotify to ‘Cold Hearts’ 19k!

I agree Cold Heart isn’t quite home and dry but I don’t think Shivers will take it easily at all. The Spotify gap still only amounts to a few hundred sales per day, most of which Cold Heart is making back from downloads.

I think 'Cold Heart' is pretty safe at #1 now tbh, Ed only made up ~100 units between the last two updates, he would need to close the gap a lot quicker in the last few days to make up the current deficit.

Btw after a little bit of ~self-reflection~ I think I am going to try and engage less in these endless Sheeran debates from now on or at least try and be more careful with my tone when I do. I do think the discourse around him on this website is often rather unnecessarily overwhelmingly negative and sometimes lacking in perspective (not to say there aren't valid criticisms of him because there definitely are) and some things do need to be called out for just being misinformation (cough Adelita Digital Sales Data gate) but on reflection I think I've been guilty of going a little too far in the opposite direction being too over-defensive and quickly dismissive of other people's takes without really considering how those posts come across / if they actually make the discussions even more tedious to read for everyone else which I imagine they usually do. Like I said I don't really intend to be taken too seriously and it's certainly not my intent to belittle or mock anyone for expressing their opinions / interpreting things differently to me (not least on a topic as frivolous as Ed Sheeran) so I'm very sorry if people have felt that way.
