November 22, 20214 yr 167k is pretty good and likely to sell around 250k I would expect. That’s a lot less than her last album and what many were predicting but still great in the current climate. So much for "Adele is in a league of her own" and "Adele always defies all expectations". :kink:
November 22, 20214 yr So much for "Adele is in a league of her own" and "Adele always defies all expectations". :kink: I mean even if the album opens between 250-300k, can anyone else in the entire industry sell those numbers?? I think the last few years and the album sales show they can’t. So she’s still in a league of her own because she yet again is selling more than anyone else.
November 22, 20214 yr I still imagine she will do 300,000 which is more than any other artist in the UK will be able to do - she will also remain at #1 probably for the rest of the year with sales above 100,000.

Exactly, they’re comparing 30 Adele to 25 Adele as opposed to comparing 30 Adele to every other artist not named Adele. If she sells anywhere close to 300k, she is technically still in a league of her own because no one else is doing it. Edited November 22, 20214 yr by BlackNBlue

November 22, 20214 yr So much for "Adele is in a league of her own" and "Adele always defies all expectations". :kink: This seems a little petty. It's about to have the biggest opening week of the decade. In 3 days it has sold more than Ed (the biggest album seller of the last 5 years) did in a week. It is likely to sell almost 50% more in it's first week than the current fastest seller of the last 4 years (ABBA). So it seems pretty clear that Adele is in a league of her own. Is that the point you were actually trying to make?
November 22, 20214 yr Adele is still in a league of her own. It just appears that league isn't as far ahead of everyone else as it was in 2015. Turns out the market collapse really is that bad. x
November 22, 20214 yr I still imagine she will do 300,000 which is more than any other artist in the UK will be able to do - she will also remain at #1 probably for the rest of the year with sales above 100,000. Given the drops Ed and ABBA have had I'd be surprised if Adele is doing 100k a week after this week.
November 22, 20214 yr Decent start for 30, I think she could just get to 300k this week, which isn’t too far off what I thought. Given the physicals market has collapsed it was never going to magically pull out half a million units. 300k in the current market is phenomenal, that’s only 65k off the biggest selling album of the year so far so I think that needs to be put into perspective. Also I think I’m right in saying she will take the record for the most no1 albums by a British female solo artist with 30. All from debut which again I think even internationally, no female act has has their first four albums top the chart and in their debut week too. (Correct me if I’m wrong).
November 22, 20214 yr Also that sales figure would that include the streaming as I feel like it’s always added on around Monday or Tuesday?
November 22, 20214 yr streaming is just 1 day behind, it's not added all on Tue also its only Spotify and Apple, Amazon reports on time
November 22, 20214 yr also bare in mind that despite doing the album as a whole doing so well on streaming yesterday streams on Spotify just translate into 3,300 sales, so the are helping very little still think 30 is doing extraordinarily well, even If I was expecting double, but thats the market thats shirinked and if you are an artists with crazy fans like L Mix, Steps or Lana, you can get week 1 sales higher than 3 years ago but with regular fans that don't buy 9 albums, you're gonna do half of what you did last time and that applies to both Ed and Adele
November 22, 20214 yr 167k is good, around 175k with missing streaming data I assume. I'm interested in the chart update later today to see what other data is missing. The ITV special has likely given it a decent boost and I can see it getting to 300k by the end of the week. Hopefully it manages a second week over 100k - that would be amazing.
November 22, 20214 yr I think adele is doing great, yes her sales are down but only by her own standards, I think context is the key here, with how album sales have declined I think Adele is showing she is still a powerhouse of a seller. The tv show boost will probably kick in for the rest of the week but I also think she is gona sell in decent enough numbers for a few months ahead.
November 22, 20214 yr ITV scored its biggest Sunday night of the year thanks to the episode (I'm a Celebrity on 9m) and An Audience With Adele which accrued a peak of 5.4 million viewers. Edited November 22, 20214 yr by ben08
November 22, 20214 yr Yeah unless there have been delays with paid for sales there’ll only be 5k or so of streaming sales missing. I could be wrong but I can’t see the TV special inspiring a huge number of weekday paid for sales in the current climate, though it will keep the streaming stable. So I reckon we’re looking closer to 250k than 300, but whatever the number we can be pretty confident there’s nobody on the planet who could beat it right now. In fact we’ve seen some of the strongest conceivable challenges in the last few weeks. It’s been an interesting time to be a music chart fan that’s for sure.
November 22, 20214 yr So much for "Adele is in a league of her own" and "Adele always defies all expectations". :kink: Who else in in Adele’s league?
